probs flashing rom on new phone

so a buddy accidently dropped his phone while cutting the grass and, well, you can imagine the rest. So he calls VZW and they send out a brand new phone and when I say new I mean really new, not no refurb.

So he wanted it like mine so I took it home and he has the new 6700 with the green slash screen that says "iwith direct push tochnoolgy". It is WM5 as I checked. So I back up his contacts and hard reset. I cancelled the customizations and went to BL mode where he has v 1.04 which I was glad to see.

I still use Kirvins C&S 3.5 v1.02 and so everything is good until i get to the screen where it tells me what versions I have on the phone and what versions I will be upgrading to. That screen has no numbers on it (which I last thought it did). But since it gives me an upgrade button I press that and then the phone turns off and the upgrade stops and closes out on the screen.

Has anyone ever seen this before? Anyone got any inside info that they can share. I never had this issue before with any of my phones.

ive gotten the no numbers part, but mine still upgrades just fine.....tho it does take a bit longer when that happens, and requires 2 or 3 hard resets before all is well.

as for it closing out, i havent the slightest...

I finally just added some apps for the guy and gave it back to him. I work 2 jobs and just didnt have the time to invest to get indepth with it and he needed him phone back.
