6700 wont stay off

Well like the topic says, my power button seems to function fine but it turns itself back on in random 1-60secs after I turn it off
It just doesnt seem like a hardware problem but just yesterday I upgraded the rom from the 2.07? to 3.14 after a hard reset and still nothing has changed :/

I've had it for a year now, just started doing this a few days ago, I noticed it while it was charging it would turn itself off and back on over and over again.

anyone seen this problem before?

Re: 6700 wont stay off

Do you have any programs in the background running? Maybe WeatherPanel? MortScript? Get a high end task manager and have a look...

Re: 6700 wont stay off

are you saying you are turning the phone off (as in completely powering it down) or just turning the screen off?

Re: 6700 wont stay off

nope no programs running, like I said I already wiped the device and upgraded rom..

yeah the screen wont stay powered off, if the device is off entirely it wont power itself on.. ive been watching it more closely lately, sometimes it will stay off for 10+ minutes and other times it will turn right back on immdiately after you turn it off

I was hoping more people were having this problem, as if verizon broke something maybe. doesnt appear that way though, something must be busted.. no warranty because I bought it used last year

Re: 6700 wont stay off

Hmmm... Not a perfect solution, but maybe installing a program like S2U2 will help... Tweaking the settings might at least keep the screen off when you are not using it, even if you have to use the don't power off mode...

Re: 6700 wont stay off

maybe you have a short in the power button causing the screen to come back on. If you have hard reset the device and reflashed and no apps are installed, then what else could it be other than a hardware issue?

Re: 6700 wont stay off

sometimes, but it isnt actualy the signal change as I think it has something to do with the phone communicating with the tower, I understand what you are saying and suggesting and I do know that happens but it doesnt happen as frequent as what he is suggesting. Or at least it has never happened on my phone that often.

Re: 6700 wont stay off

I've got this same problem. I am in a low signal level area for Sprint. I usually have to force it to Always Roam on the Verizon network since calls are unusable at my home through Sprint. I think it may be due to switching towers.

The most annoying thing is when it turns itself on to give you a low battery warning. That's just making the battery worse.
