HELP!! BIG audio problems...

Here's my story:

The headphone jack on my XV6700 has gone totally FUBAR on me and I've got the obligatory no sound through phone, external speaker, etc. I did the searches for fixes, tried the in-and-out a million times, tried fiddling inside with a toothpick and that just made the black plastic ring crumble and come completely out so now it looks like a big gaping hole...ugh. I think parts of the jack itself have come out and are forever gone.

When the phone is in use, the headphone icon is on the screen so clearly the phone thinks there's a headset still in the jack - even with parts of the jack missing, apparently. Damn those toothpicks!!!

Is there a way to disengage the jack in the registry of the phone or something like that? I use BT anyway, so I have no need for this jack and its making my life miserable.

Here's the next weird thing....

My phone rings, and my Motorola H300 BT headset works to MAKE calls but won't RECEIVE calls. I press the green phone soft key to receive a call and there's nothing in the headset. I press the receive call button on the headset and the phone stops ringing and I hear the ring in my BT headset.

I JUST got this phone exactly how I want it with ROMs and what not, and just started to want to use it to play music. Now I not only can't do that but I really can't use it as a phone too well, either. ANY help from the gurus of all things Apache would be MOST appreciated.

Send me your wisdom....I'm here to listen and try anything.

Peace,
RevG

Re: HELP!! BIG audio problems...

Look I am not certain about this.... but as far as I recall - and I have taken this thing apart, the headset is hardware - that is to say when you insert a jack, it moves a switch which tells the phone you have inserted a jack. I know people had your best interests at heart, but you probably sho9uldn't have stuck a toothpick in there - these things are tiny and quite fragile - I know I do board level electronic repair, and I have had my 6700 apart already to fix things.... so, unless there is a piece of toothpick stuck in there fooling it, you are fubar'd

don't know about the bluetooth....

Not quite sure if this headset problem arose after your hardware failure or you just never have got it work. I suppose you have tried to redo your BT connection. I guess every headset could be different but on my Jabra, I don't press any key on the 6700 to receive a call, just on the headset. There is a neat function where you can set the headset to automatically pick up after a certain number of rings on one of the phone settings tabs.
