Did you reload anything with a backup program or copy the pim.vol over? That is usually the cause of this issue

Did you do a hard reset before and after the 3.3 install?

sync via activesync before you do the rom upgrade to 3.3

then flash

then resync via activesync.

once you make the jump to 3.3+ you will be able to sync with exchange going forward. Under no circumstances should you use the pim.vol from a aku build of 2.2 or lower.

follow our advice and it will be smooth sailing on your contacts.

I am having the same exact problem and I have tried several different 3.3 and 3.5 roms all with the same result..

I think it might be because Im allowing all the verizon roms to load after a hard reset.

Here is what I do..
Sync phone to make sure its all backed up.
Put phone in bootloader mode
run the rom installer
reset the phone
after screen calibration I have been letting all the verizon roms install themselves.

Contacts wont open, just flashes and when I try to use active sync it wont sync my contacts and gives a not enough memory error.

I have the latest verizon rom and have flashed back to it at this point and all is working just fine..

Any one got any ideas?

thanks
Phil

I had the exact same problem. But its because you didnt hard reset press the two - buttons and hold. Then take your sylus on press the soft reset buttonon the bottom of the device. Press Y to clear. It will reboot and bring you back to setup. You will now find you contacts much more responsive. I promise

This should like be stickied or something, I was about to panic when my Contacts wouldn't open. Wow! I guess I'm not the only person that didn't RTFM!
