Ringer volume

After upgrading to wm6 rom, my ringer volume is way low (using mp3 especially) I did see the reg edit to change the value from 3 to 5. but the value is already set to 5, there got to be something that can be done. any help would be great, if anyone could help its the PPCGeeks community ...

Re: Ringer volume

Yes there are those values that range from 1 to 5 and you can change them to whatever number in that range that you want but they directly coincide with the volume level you get and can adjust with the slider on the side of the phone. In other words, if I move my volume all the way up the number in the registry will be 5. If I move it down then the number will always decrease by 1.

Look here at this thread for more help possibly.

Re: Ringer volume

When I upgraded to WM6, i noticed the ringer volume low as well. When I looked at the InitVol in the registry, it was "2". I set this to "4". When you press the volume button on the side of the 6700, you should get a display with a PPC (device) volume slider on the left and a phone volume slider on the right. The phone volume slider on the right increased the ringer volume so much that I had to decrease the device volume on the left a couple of notches. Working the two sliders should get you an acceptable ringer volume.

Prior to the registry hack, everytime I tried to increase the right slider, it would fall back to the previous setting. So far I have only used .wma ringtones. Just my experiences.

Edit: Did you try to go higher than "5". I think the hack was for WM5 where not much increase was noticed after "5".

Re: Ringer volume

If you notice, when you move your slider up and down, there are 6 settings to your ringer, it is positions 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 because 0 is no volume and 5 is the highest volume. So if you change the value in the registry is 3 and then look at the volume on the phone it would be at position 4. This is why if you go over 5 you do not get any additional volume.

Still learning. Sounds about right, e.g. the 6 ticks. In my case, the registry would not update as I could not get the slider above the third mark (e.g. 2 where my registry indicated). The PPC side went to 5, no problem. Anyway, my ringtones have more than enough volume so the hardware should be capable in WM6.
