Angry Emergency Mode (yes I have searched)

Can someone tell me why my phone keeps going into "Emergency Mode" when I, or someone else, hangs up after a call?

I am not dialing 911, or anything like that. And it is happening quite a lot.

This is incredibly annoying (aka pain-in-the-***).

Could someone tell me how to stop it from doing this???

thanks

Re: Emergency Mode (yes I have searched)

no idea, how long has this been going on? When did it start? any changes to the phone? Did you buy the phone new or used? Have you tried to hard reset the phone? Is it a custom ROM or OEM ROM?

How about just some more basic info so we can help.

Many, many, many times

Both...

I am currently running the latest Kitchen from Helmi. However, it did this even with the OEM ROM. So, that is what has me stumped

Sorry, I should have elaborated more. Not sure what else you may need, but here it is:

Audiovox PPC6700
Alltel
Helmi's Kitchen (WM6)
did this with original ROM as well

Thats fine, you answered everything I needed to know. I am sure over the time you have had this device that you have called the carrier (I know dealing with TS and CSRs isnt always great) but what did they have to say about it and why dont you just shep the weight of the lemon and get a new one if it has been that long and that on-going?

Re: Emergency Mode (yes I have searched)

Believe it or not (I know this sounds crazy), I have never called a CSR on this issue. Can't even bear the thought of it, since most of the time, I know more about my phone than they do.

The thought of getting a non-lemon had occured to me. But, I was hoping someone might offer a work around. I have searched and searched for a setting to turn on/off/whatever. But, can't find one.

Also thought that maybe I was doing something to inadvertantly do this myself. And, if I could figure out what, I would knock it off.

Have you checked to see if you are eligible for an upgrade? I know the 6700 is a great phone, I have one myself. My girlfriend is using it but I do have one. I just think that if you are going to try to get a new phone to replace the lemon you have, you should try to get your hands on a newer phone.

Re: Emergency Mode (yes I have searched)

OK - just a shot in the dark, but there is a setting somewhere (sorry not helpful, I know) it is in one of the modes accessed by a ##code. It is where you tell the phone what the emergency number is - 911 or 999 or whatever.

What would happen if you had no entry there? Would the phone think every call was an emergency call, and thereby leave you in e-mode after the call, which is what happens BTW

Hey, that's one that didn't even cross my mind. I will check in to that and post what I find.

The funny thing is, though, this happened when I was running WM5 as well. So, I'm wondering if there is something somewhere in the radio or something else that is causing it to do this. My wife has the exact same phone/software/ROM and has never had this issue.

Curious

Re: Emergency Mode (yes I have searched)

Yeah - you need a ##code to get to it - something else I am having trouble with on my phone - anyway, as I understand it is a radio setting.....

and no, I don't think a radio reflash or upgrade will fix it - I think it is normally set during provisioning
