I also had this problem and had to reflash using different options. Not sure which was conflicting with it, but I used the default dailer skin, didn't install advanced config and hack and it worked. On my other phone I have to press soft rest every once in a while to get it to open... annoying..

Post your selections txt and let us know what programs you added after flash. Make sure you are doing your hard reset after the flash is complete. I have seen this happen when I didn't hard reset.

Are you syncing your contacts or did you restore them from a backup?

Tony that gives me one idea. After you flash try to open your contacts before you load any. So we can see if it is broken right off the bat or after they are loaded. If it is after something may be killing the shortcut. Also Raz, have you tried to open contacts thru the start menu?

Yes i have tried to open the contacts right after i hard reset and nothing. also I have tried after syncing with my exchange server, whats wierd is even though i can't open the contacts trough the today screen or start menu I can seem to add people to the HTC peoples tab, it seems to have acess to the contacts, im guessing something software is conflicting but i cant seem to figure out what it is.

Go to start>programs>file explorer>windows>startmenu. See if you have contacts.ink in there. I will attach a copy of my contacts.ink file in case you don't. I don't know if it will work but worth a try if it is missing. This ink file is your shortcut. I am guessing this could be your problem. If I am wrong maybe someone else can jump in here with a fix. If this ink is missing unzip this and copy the contacts.ink. Either copy to your storage card the copy and paste it into the start menu folder. You can also hook up your usb and explore thru active sync down to window>start menu and paste it in that way. I don't understand why it could be missin(probably isn't) but check and see. If the contacts.ink is in the start menu folder click on it there and see if your contacts open. Hope this helps.

If anyone knows if any of these conflict with the contacts list please let me know. I can still access contacts by bringing up the phone and hiding the keypad. Which sucks.

Thx in advance

Well that didnt take too long. I found what was causing the conflict. Under the OEM section are 2 programs regarding Duo Touch

HTC Duo Touch Random Access and
Duo Touch Action screen

Reflash without those options and you should be good. The Duo touch tries to assign itself to the right soft button which by default is the contacts button. I dont know why that would cause all other shortcuts not to work. Im sure someone more adept than me will come and tell us either a workaround, a registry modification or a reason why it doesnt work.
