Battery life - extended batteries? tweaks?

ok so the battery life on this phone is ridiculous as everyone probably knows. and i don't know if i just don't know how to user the search function on this forum but i didn't find anything about batteries. any way what would be the best extended battery for this phone? do they make a nickel metal hydrate? and finally is there any tweaking beside turning the brightness down that can help with battery life?

Re: Battery life - extended batteries? tweaks?

Hmmm......make sure you dont have BT on WiFi on other than when needed. You already know about the brightness. You can get an extended battery to go longer if you want but I have mine with a stock battery overclocked at 624Mhz and I make it almost throught the entire day. I do a lot of texting and listening to music over my BT earpiece. I am up at 6am and at work my 7am. I will usually listen to about an hours worth of music or so while I am at my desk and then turn my BT and all off. I leave my first job about 3.30 and have to be at my other by 5pm. Because we cant hav e phones on us at my other job I leave it in my truck and put it on the charger. I really cant say how much battery I have left by that time but I can say that I can still use it w/o getting a low batt warning. How long have you had your battery? It is a new phone or used?

Re: Battery life - extended batteries? tweaks?

i was using just the regular battery and with just normal usage of the phone as a phone and some texting it was only lasting me about 4 hours. so i got the extended battery and now i'm goin online with it, playing games, listening to music, texting and talking and i only have to put it on the charger for about an hour around 6:00 pm. course, i charge it all night long too. if you dont mind the phone being chunkier, i'd strongly recommend going for the extended. as for what kind it is, i dunno, i just got it on ebay and am thrilled with it.

Re: Battery life - extended batteries? tweaks?

i do kinda mind the chunkyness of the extended batteries because this phone is fat enough already. but 1 day really, really... this phone is quite old, maybe 2 years old. i was given the phone brand new for my last job and i used it vigorously and i got 2 to 3 days before i HAD to charge it. i have been using the samsung upstage for the past year, and i got tired of the small screen and not QWERTY keyboard, so i swap my ESN over to my PPC. my battery last about 32 hours until its beeping at me and i do almost nothing with it... couple of texts and a phone call or 2. i guess i should just buy a new battery and see what happens.
basically i want to be able to use it as a MP3 player when i go to Cancun in May and also be able to entertain myself on the beach. i wont be making calls or texting because i will be out of coverage

I got a brand new battery......still the same life lol. They suck alot of juice. But now having two batteries is nice because one is charged and I just swap them out.

Carry a fully charged battery and do the following tweaks:

And make sure to turn your screen off, the backlight is another killer.

see: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...6&postcount=10 for an excellent explanation of what these do. I use wifi, evdo, phone, bluetooth and direct push and have had no ill effects because of these changes.

Go to ebay and you can get a nice 8gb iPod copy that plays vids, photos, mp3s, voice recording and FM for about 40 bux and will last longer than your 6700 (I just bought one for my chick)

Re: Battery life - extended batteries? tweaks?

I would highly recommend an Extended battery. I got one after my phone with the original slim battery would die on my before I even made it home from work or thru the day on the job. I left WiFi enabled a couple of times and the phone died even quicker and I ended carrying a usb charging cable to work with me everyday just to be able to plug up the phone to a PC usb port to charge it. I also changed a couple of the power settings - namely the backlight and power off periods. I ended up getting an extended battery and not worrying about my phone dying on me anymore. I've had the phone a year total now even though my current one is a replacement of the original.
