Deleting ROM Files

I am using Total Commander and am wondering how to delete files that are in the rom(in windows dir) with this program.

Or is it impossible to delete rom files?

ROM stands for "read only memory".

If we could just add and remove files from ROM with Total Commander, there would be no need for "rom tools" to make custom rooms.

i deleted mine.

i used the wideawake's extended rom tool which unlocks the extended rom. once you have installed the cab and ran the .exe from the zip file, do a soft reset your phone. an extended rom folder should show up in your file explorer. from there, you can cut and paste all of sprint extended rom files on to your memory card or pc and replace them with your own. just remember to modify the config.txt and save it as a "read only" file. also, save all of the cabs your extended rom as a "read only" file.

check out this post, if you need anymore help.

I'm not talking about the extended rom. I'm talking about if I browse to the windows directory and want to delete the O2 software that Colonel put in there with his custom it keeps telling me it can't because it's in the rom.

I am using Total Commander if that matters. Will Resco allow you to do so?

You can't delete things from the device ROM without rebuilding it and reflashing.
