Hopefully I can have something this evening. Kinda depends. It shouldn't take too long for me to get the 3.5 kitchen going. I have a few ideas of some extras to put in including the "almost complete" VC 1.6 module.

thanks for the response.
What I mean by "downloading the executable" is this. With go to gotomypc.com, and then I went to access one of my desktops, an executable file would pop up (not in the PC sense) with the option of opening/saving. If opened, it would then connect to the desktop. After flashing, I no longer get the option to download the file - it just doesn't come up - and I am dead in the water. I can however download cab Files. That's not a problem.

BT voice dialing and everything worked with Colonel's non-v

with non-verizon AKU 3.3 colonel's custom, without cabs i.e. soft reset when it wants to customize itself) BT voice dialing and incoming calls and such worked, on headset and on the car kit, which is supoosedl;y impossible. I was trying to install the car kit and didnt know which buttons to hold, I remember some strange things happening when I held 2 buttons that werent it. Maybe it installed it, lights flashing and such when I held the on/off and the activation for voice command on the car kit? Then I installed the aku 3.3 with cabs that is for Verizon, but not the cabs, and it isnt working??? I didnt install the cabs, I dont know why I would install any cabs??

Love this cusom one, it is really great.

I researched 2 things a lot and maybe its my time to ask something after spending half my life hacking this thing over the last 2 months.

I would like to record phone conversations, I am out of my office and wish to record orders people place over the phone. Recording is disabled on phones because its illegal, and I will always tell the customer he is being recorded.

2nd question is, volume volume volume. When I call Verizon the come through loud, almost anyone else not loud enough through bluetooth motorola car kit. How do I up the volume?

1. The hardware in this phone is not capable of true call recording, since the audio output is not routed in through the audio input. The only audio input in this phone is the microphone. So while you can certainly start a recording while on a phone call, all you will get is your own voice.

A possible workaround is to put the phone in speakerphone mode during a call, then start the recording. That may make the other caller's voice loud enough to be picked up by the microphone. Worth a shot, anyway.

2. BT headset volume is a common complaint (and car kits are basically just a glorified BT headset). Does the car kit not route through your car stereo speakers? So can you not just turn up the volume on your stereo?

Someone here posted a hack for Verizon call volume by modifying the vocoder settings in the phone (search for vocoder and you should pull up the thread). I doubt it will really help much but may be worth a shot (I'm on Sprint so I've not tested it myself).

jrs, it may have something to do with the new user agent string in the 3.x roms. You can search around for the settings. If I have a chance later I will grab them. Just remind me if you can't find them. These new settings may cause gotomypc to not recognize the phone as a mobile deice.

rene, on the BT issues, the best thing to do is just keep experimenting til you figure out what works. I don't use anything like that so it is hard for me to help. In regards to recording phone conversations, this has been discussed before, but the concensus was that it was impossible (or close to) to get this to work. The problem is that the OS and the radio(phone) are seperated as a function of design. There are always possibilities though.

EDIT: yeah, what he said

Thanks, colonel. I'll take a look. Would they be found in the registry?

Mr Happy, I posted some more reg entries here and in the BT PAN thread. Unfortunately, I cannot test my self, but I am trying to find any entries that might help.
I missed it somewhere, I will go check it out right now

Colonel,

I found it. I changed it to emulate IE 6. Could this be it? Just took a shot. We'll see what happens But let me know If I'm not on the right track.

Actually the new string sets is to 6. I think you might want to go back to 4.1 or something like that. You might want to start a new thread in the forums. This will get more viewing than in this thread.
