Strangest part is that I can use both BTToggle and Audio.exe without any problems at all. That is what makes this more puzzling.

So, InClose is crap too, huh? Well, what next? I can give Magic Button a shot since it is one of the more popular apps. Thing is, though, this may another whole issue with the rom. Luv2Chill recommended InClose and I respect the fact that he probably would have been using it for a while. Also, it just seems strange that the HTC app worked fine in 2.2. I know that the "Super" Rom for the Wizard that the guys at xda built has magic button in it (Pretty sure ).

Perhaps I should just pull all apps of this nature to see if the shell errors still occur. This would also let people play with the app of their choice and hopefully find one that worked.

an excelent idea remove all apps in question and post cab files that way we can all test and give you feed back before you do the official beta3 installer packager.

and can some one please post the last beta with htc in it please!!

just download the cab he just posted of htc then disable the inclose.

my deduction seems to be the best one. havent tested mgic button with 3.3 yet, but didnt realy like the way it looked at all on prior roms. thats just my 2c.

Colonel if u are gonna post a rom without a closing app can u please specify it so i know to install my own then?

thanx

I've been using InClose (the same version I posted) for months and months on my Sprint 6700, running on both Sprint's AKU 2.0 and the Telecom NZ AKU 2.2. I have never had a shell error of any kind.

So Alwaysbelieve1, I think your deduction is wrong. I bet you've got something else installed that is conflicting with task managers... period.

Try running a stock AKU 2 or 2.2 ROM (I mean with no other programs installed other than the task manager app you want to test) and see if you get shell errors. I bet you won't.

For what it's worth, I've used the HTC task manager without problems too. But it lacks two important features that InClose has:

1. No exceptions (i.e. you never want to close the phone app nor activesync)
2. No list of running apps.

I have also used Magic Button without problems either. The reasons I don't use it:

1. It replaces the square X with the old-school circle X. In doing so, it screws up any skin with a non-standard top bar color. Really ugly (and I'm not that picky).

2. It puts running apps icons in the top bar, where there really isn't enough room to show them. InClose (and others) use a drop-down menu which makes a lot more sense.

Again, I maintain there is some app conflict causing these shell errors (and Smartskey is not it because I run that with Inclose without issue).

I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of it.

I will have one to put up in a little while, but I have not had a chance to remove InClose. If I do I will note it. As far as other changes, it will have better colors for the SmartDialer, Windows Live, Updated Batti. Still trying to get stupid SIPChange to work. It's really pissing me off for such a simple program.

Luv2Chill, do you run SIPChanger? One of the things I am thinking is that this app is still malfunctioning and may be causing the errors as well. The problem with that theory is that SIPchange shouldn't be affecting the shell. Mostly I am afraid that I may have damaged the registry in some way. One of my goals is to run some comparisons to see if I accidentally messed with something I shouldn't have.

luvchill- u might be right. i dont know for a fact, but i put windows live on the stock phone right before putting on inclose. i dont have the stock phone any longer as i had to give it back. it may indeed be windows live causing all these issues.

i like inclose better anyway. i dont get that many shell errors on my phone so im keeping it.

what does INTELLICLOSE do?

I installed the cab here attached which has three newer DLL's. You may also need to add a reg key:

HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings/BitPool

DWORD=60

missed the cab:

has this rom affected the ability to program their phone for anyone?
Yes, I had to install a dialer skin, then remove it using "Remove Programs" and now I can program my phone.

Colonel--you may be onto someting. I do not use SIPChanger--never have.

Wouldn't surprise me if Windows Live was the culprit too--I really wish that app worked properly, but I gave two different beta versions a try and they both had a ton of problems. I'm sure it works fine on native crossbow ROMs though... so maybe I'll just wait for that.

Intelliclose (kinda stupid name ) just means that it will honor the exclusion list (if you've set one up). So for instance if you put an entry in the exclusion list for solitaire then when you tap the X (or choose Intelliclose) it will only minimize solitaire, not close it. For any apps that are not set up in the exclusion list (other than activesync and phone which are never truly closed) then Intelliclose will truly close them.

You can read more about the app from the manual. All I have is a google cache link of the original PDF because the developer's site is gone. If anyone has the original PDF file somewhere, please post it! Also note this manual is actually for InSuite Mobile--which is a commercial package of verious apps to do things similar to resco and spb pocket plus. Just read the section on InClose.

http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache...lnk&cd=4&gl=us

InClose is a great piece of software. It's too bad that the developer closed up shop, as they looked to be very talented folks.

New nk.nbf going up on the ftp. It still has inclose in it. I decided to give it one more chance since I think (crossing fingers) that SIPChange is fixed. Also in are Windows Live and an updated batti. Also fixed the colors in smartdialer, but I am open to others if anyone wants something other than white. I think we could find some better colors as far as contrast. I would like to get some green mixed in if possible. Anyway, play with if you want.
