Maybe I missed something by mainly reading this site on the 6700. I was assuming that by "tweaks", people meant all sorts of crazy registry changes. Actually, I'm probably merging multiple threads in my head!

P&V, timezone and smartdialer are all valid fixes. I wouldn't even consider them tweaks.

I know you had to have put a lot of work into your custom rom. Maybe you kept a log that would help with making modules for the kitchen?

Each tweak could then be its own module. It would only need to contain an RGU file with the change.

Maybe people want a naked rom to be able to decompile it and make their own changes to it? That's the only thing I can think of!

I am more that happy to help create modules for the kitchen as I plan to use it later. Right now I just do not know the format. My offer is out there. Whenever anyone wants to create a module, just ask me. I can easily zip the files, shortcuts, flash file entries and registry entries. I am just not familiar with creating RGU files and such. I am all about helping though. :D :D

Did you ever find the issue with Internet Explorer locking up? Mine locked up constantly and never opened. When I selected my IE button it took me to the communication page.

The rgu file is just a renamed .REG file that starts with REGEDIT4 and has a blank line at the end. That's what's so great about it!

Agree with Bushrod. A naked rom should be stock to as much degree as possible (though I understand including fixes like the smartdialing reg entry and pic & video fix). It should be a base that users would then use to put their own customizations in.

I know there are some registry hacks I use that others may not want to use, and vice-versa. So to make everyone happy you need a baseline that everyone can use.

Oh, and colonel, according to Jason Langridge of MS, the 2007 DST changes are already incorporated into all post AKU 3.0 builds. See here:

Colonel,

I know that creating a module with the Palm Threaded SMS app would be against the rules since it's illegal to distribute, but how about creating a module with just the registry items and shortcuts. For those of us that have it, we can just drop our files into it to finish the module.

Is that possible?

After using both Colonel and Helskis 3.3 Ive came across a memory question.

Using the Helskis rom (and stock 2.2) I use more Storage memory than Program memory yet when I use Col's I use much more Program memory than Storage running the same apps installed to the same location. Why?

Thanks for the fun :)

Mitch

I didn't think of it this way Colonel, makes sense now. :)

Thanks for all your hard work! It is very much appreciated!

160 registry entries. Not a problem except I can't seem to figure out how to extract as a group from the cab. Bushrod or anyone else, what am I missing? Using WinCE Cab Manager BTW.

Shortcuts are easy for those who don't know. Just open a new text document with notepad. Then type 37#"\Windows\app.exe". The number at the beginning does not really matter (as far as I know). Then save as App.lnk. You have now created a shortcut. All you need to do now is to link it in the initflashfile or however the kitchen does this.

You mean you want to extract all the registry entries? It's easy. Just go to the file menu and choose export as reg. I just tested it on voice command and got all 327 bleedin' entries in a single reg file (of course that doesn't include the self-registering ones we've previously discussed).
I think you could probably just rename that as-is to [guid].rgu, as it already has the REGEDIT4 header and carriage return at the end.
