Backup for pi and flexmail

i'm wondering if there is a free backup program that will backup pocket informant and flexmail that will still be usable after i flash. i've done some searching and most ppl say not to restore a full backup from sprite or spb after a new rom flash. i use the pim backup from helmi's kitchen now, but it dosn't seem to cover pi or flexmail. there are options to export data in both apps, but are they usable as backups?
lot of questions i know. appreciate the help though.

the sprite backup site says it can be used between devices and rom upgrades. anyone have any experience with this?

Yes Sprite should do it also I think but I personally use SPB Clone although it isnt for every practical use.
