1x internet problems or internet all together

Ever since I updated my ppc 6700 to the new radio version, when I'm off the internet for a while it completly shuts off and it won't let me log back on. It gives me a message (Cannot Connect Dial: #777... The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings.)........When I look on my Comm Manager screen the active data service is always not highlighted after. Then if i soft reset my device the internet works again until i stop useing it for a while and then it does the same thing all over. Then If I want to use the internet I have to soft reset my phone again. "can anyone tell me wants wrong and how can I fix it)

Hmmm - I may have seen that myself for the first time today (updated radio version a few days ago...)

It may not be the new radio, sometimes sprint (assume you're on sprint) does dumb things to their vision service... I'll keep an eye on mine, there is also probably a hack somewhere you can do that will force EVDO to stay connected

Change the "AlwaysOn" dword value from "0" to "1"

Softreset
I can verify that mine was *not* set to 1.

I downgraded to the 1.12 radio for this very issue.

Thank you for you guys input.. I can't do the change to make it always on because I'm in a 1x area and it will make me miss all my calls. Is there a way to turn the connection back on with out keep doing a soft reset.

I think I found one way to do it, what I did was press and hold the red phone key at the bottom of the ppc 6700 until you hear the phone sound like it is turning off (it won't turn off, it just turns off the phone and data signal off). When the signal has the x on them, press and hold the red phone botton again until it makes the sound like it is coming back on. I think this connects you back to the internet again, instead of doing a soft reset. I will keep a eye on this and let you know if it works all the time like that.

Send a message via AIM to naigaboy Send a message via MSN to naigaboy
what you just did was put the phone in flight mode and then take it of flight mode.

Ya, turning off the Phone radio seems to force any "oddness" with the data side to go away. I've been turning off the Phone radio in order to do a "soft reset" on my data connection when its been having issues. 9/10 times it will do the trick, every once and a while it will hang trying to disable the Phone radio at which point the soft reset is the only option.

Nope, that was going to be my suggestion as well (flight mode, that is)

Forcing it on all the time should not block you from getting calls in 1X mode - that's just old "vision" mode - you can get calls connected, as long as you are not active.

Well, my data connection is really misbehaving now.

I did two things - well three

(1) 3.3 rom
(2) 1.27 radio
Both of those were done last friday, and honestly the thing has been behaving just fine since then... until yesterday when I
(3) changed the Slot Index to get faster rings ( http://ppcgeeks.com/low-level-radio-...new-t2276.html )

Since (3) it seems my data connection has been wonky - as the OP says, it will either just drop the arrows at random (or, if I force allways on per this topic, it will get itself hung up) and it won't reconnect without a radio reset (flight mode, or soft reset)

I will try today leaving the slot index setting in place but reverting to the 1.12 radio firmware, run it for a while that way, and if that clears it up wonderful. If not, I'll try the other combo (1.27 radio and revert to Slot Index 2 setting)
