6700 red light, won't turn on
So, here's the story...
My friend and his girl got in a fight. She decided to break his heart and destroy his beloved 6700. She hurled the thing across the room at a wall and sent parts flying everywhere. He mostly put it back together, but it won't come on at all. When you plug it in to charge it, the power light comes on red, but nothing else. I put in a known good battery (mine) and still nothing. Not even a light when on battery only. When a good battery is in and powered by the charger, just the red light. Well, obviously the relationship is over. I mean, she broke his 6700! Problem is, he has videos of his baby on there, and all his contacts. He had never sync'd the phone. He has a Mac and didn't know how to sync his phone to the Mac and never setup an Exchange mailbox. Does anyone have any idea how or if the data on the phone can be retrieved? He did not have a memory card, so it is all on internal storage. Edit: I forgot to note that he does not have insurance, so the phone won't be replaced. Further reason to release the girlfriend... Note: This was my 1000th post. Wanted to use it helping a friend out.

Re: 6700 red light, won't turn on
Not sure if it this works on the 6700, but he should take apart everything again, then just assemble the minimum pieces (outside the case if possible)needed to power up... He MIGHT be able to remote into it via a PC, but this is a nothing to lose project... Chances are it's gone for good... even getting another 6700 for parts via e-bay won't help if the main board is bad...

Re: 6700 red light, won't turn on
You don't think it would be possible to take the storage portion of this 6700 and "attach" it to another 6700 to retrieve the data? I know it would take some serious sodering skills, which I lack, but would it be possible? I know this means an ebay 6700. But I could get one with jacked up screen and bad ESN for cheap. Maybe Verizonguy has done something like that.

Re: 6700 red light, won't turn on
I HAVE 2 MORE SPRINT 6700s AVAIALBLE FOR PARTS (1 WITH A BAD CHARGE/USB PORT AND THE OTHER WHICH IS IN THE BEST CONTITION WHICH HAS A PARTIAL TOUCHSCREEN ISSUE).

Re: 6700 red light, won't turn on
If someone thinks moving the storage memory from one to another is even possible, I may hit you up for one of those. Of course, then I'd have to send yours and my friend's to that someone to attempt it. I know it wouldn't be possible for me to do it correctly.

Re: 6700 red light, won't turn on
i'm no expert at sodering either, but that may be done at the ppc tech website. there's a risk either you or me trying to soder any kind of components in the motherboard would do us more harm than good. you can leave the sodering part to a professional chico, and the 6700 with the screen problem will be $30 w/o battery since it was an insurance claim from a friend of mine.
