problem with storage memory allocation
Hi. I'm relatively new to PPC Geeks (tho like the tone a lot - have been elsewhere...not always as friendly). Have PPC6700. My storage memory always hangs out at around 13-14MB and I don't have a ton of stuff on the device. BUT, using Memory Maid, I've found that there are over 1300 files in the Windows folder taking up 60 mb. They include many many many small files. I sorted by type: this isn't a complete list but there are: 20 CABS, 50 applicatinos, 300 dlls, 250 bitmap images (for things like buttons in WMP and other apps), 125 DAT files, 75 GIF images, 75 HTMLs, and assorted MUI, NLP, PNG, PROVMXL, RGU, WAV and other sound files. Also some word templates. Largest fille is a 2mb powerpoint, smallest are some shortcuts, there are several 0 byte files that are in format "CAB__NG". I have no idea if all or any of this is junk or how to get rid of it.
Also, my PIM file is 9MB. Is this unusual?
Any clues or assistance would be greatly appreciated. And, in advance, I did try to find something about this in forum searches with no luck. So, obviously, if there's something I can read, just point me there.
Thanks.
