i'm all late, just downloaded the universal version of crossbow. I have a friend who has a 8125, i guess this will work on his device right?

i also found a cab that will make the 6700 a wifi G device. I'm about to test in after i make a back up

So we're probably looking at a good weekend here to work on it and then most likely by middle of next week?

Does that sound about right?

Where might this CAB be? And I thought the 6700 could already do G.

I don't use Wifi that much anyway since my EVDO is faster, but I'll definitely take the upgrade and maybe I'll like it more.

I don't think the Universal version will work on the 8125. Read the post on xda developers under the Wizard forums for upgrading. READ THE WHOLE THREAD. You will find the link and the steps to install it. You need to know if it is a G3 or G4 8125.

I see higher speeds, but i can't connect to a wireless g router maybe someone else will have more luck.

All the "G" setting does is allow it to connect to b/g routers, which it should have done already anyway - it does NOT make it have an 802.11g radio

At any rate, mine connected to my b/g router just fine before and after - my router was set to mixed mode, I suppose if you have a router that is in "g only" mode this would let you connect.

i tried it, but i still can't connect to my router when in g only mode. no problems connecting in mixed mode. schettj, did you notice a difference in speed?

No difference in speed, and my router is in mixed mode as well. The 6700 (and all ppcs in general) have pretty bad network speeds anyway, maxing out well below the "normal" speed - my wifi caps out around 2mbit/s on the 6700, and for 802.11b it should be more like 4-5mbit/sec.

So, maybe it doesn't work at all (this "g mode" thing, that is)
