ROM Flashing: How much is too much?

after what has to be well over a couple hundred flashes (on both a 700wx and an apache, more so on the apache), i began to wonder if anyone has ever gotten to the point of hardware failure caused by too many reflashings. anyone have any ideas on the hardware limitations?

Good question, can you break a ROM! I would like to know this as well.

Re: ROM Flashing: How much is too much?

Well why would you be flashing that much anyway? There are only a handful of custom ROMS and even far less OEM ROMs. So I fail to see how you are reaching the point of "over a couple hundred flashes". Do I think you could damage your device by doing that. No, I do not but nor do I have any technical proof to make that answer accurately.

Cool Re: ROM Flashing: How much is too much?

The flash limitations would be a minimum of 10,000 cycles or so, given the average for flash media. The phone will be long obsolete before you get there, even if you don't have a life ! LOL!!

Seriously, about the only limitation would be the wear and tear on the USB jack.

So true. I doubt anyone here flashes anything like as often as the kitchen team does, and none of them have worn the flash in their roms out yet.

I'm not sure how much is too much, but I'm gonna do it 'til I need glasses.

Re: ROM Flashing: How much is too much?

all this amounts to is curiosity, as far as flashing, weedahoe i get bored quick. since i learned how to make oems and whatnot, between here and xda my phone gets flashed sometimes twice a day (more when i'm feeling fiesty). it dosn't help that work dosn't require a lot of work. theres only one other guy on my crew, boredom ensues. anyway, appreciate the replies folks.

You need a girlfriend, a different/another job, an additional hobby, but more importantly, Ive got something to surely keep you busy if you like to play with these devices. PM me for more info.
