Ok help out a newbie

great Forum, nice info here glad i found it.

I just got a Verizon XV6700 and I understand that the xv6700 is the same as the ppc6700 (an HTC Apache)

I see all these new ROM updates but which one to use?

How do I tell which version of AKU I have?

Should i install this first?
http://www.utstar.com/pcd/downloads/...11000_Ship.exe

Or do I go right into this?
Verizon Logo - http://rapidshare.com/files/11053626/VZWCustom.rar

I am not new to flashing ROMs done it on Razr, Ipaqs, Axims, Palm devices.

I have read the noob guide, the wikis (ppcgeeks and xdas) I need more precise info, please help me or point me to more material to read.

More precisely how do I save my current ROM in restore it in case upgrade goes to the craper?

Thanks for your replies and the hard work on the ROM tweaking.

AKU is in ur build number in the about section mines says 2.2.0 And urs may say the same, either way u can upgrade straight to the custom. You could make a backup using spb before installing, but do NOT restore to the phone after u upgrade. Just keep it in case u wanna revert back to the offical, in which u could restore it then.

You are correct build is 14928.2.2.0 I was actually looking in the device info which states 2.07.20 WWE, and that is what was throwing me off.

When you say backup using spb am I right in assuming you are talking about Sprite Backup utility?

After upgrade I will reinstall all software over, I know from experience that after flash the ROM all software should be reinstall instead of a restore.

But my concern is the ROM (built 14928.2.2.0) how do i restore to this build in case of problems?

thanks for your reply, sure helps when it comes from the master mind himself.

Ok so it is the backup utility from SPB, http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/backup/?en

I must use this then? i already own a copy of sprite backup.

But like I said in my previous post data loss is not an issue for me, I am more concerned about the reverting back to original ROM that came from verizon, or am I not getting the concept here?

Tutorial por favor...newbie?

I am also new at this. Please forgive me if my questions seem redundant here. I have done extensive searching before I am asking to not test patience too much. I have an XV6700 Verizon 2.07.200. I just went through all of the processes to render this a GPS and EDVO and stripped the EXT ROM. I just got this to absolute Nirvanna within it's defaunt capacity. Then of course, like a moth to light, I am enthralled by this upgrade. I suppose it is the Yankee way.

Just like you people are doing here at a 1000x factor; which is amazing to say the least.

So now here I am ready to rock with the Kitchen and OEM setup on my PC and essentially frozen in confusion.

Is there a simple tutorial on how to do this somewhere? or
Could I FEDEX my phone and pay $100.00 to have it done and have it FEDEXED back the next day using my FEDEX account?

I just do not want to go down a 30 hour rabbit hole for a one time process that is child's play to one of you.

Just purging fear here. I trust that one of you has exactly the answer that is perfect.

Again thank you for all of the profound work done here!

Robert Bohen
