Random screen light up ??

I have Audiovox VX6700 (Apache) and Sprint Touch (Vogue)

The screen lights up randomly even when I have the phone in standby/idle mode.

both of the phones do this, any ways to have the WM keep the screen blacked out instead of the backlight coming back on?
