Help a n00b flash his phone... xv6700 verizon

Backstory: Several months ago I flashed my phone with a wm6 image that I got from this board. I did it because wm5 sucks and I hated my phone with it. It worked great for a while and I loved my phone. Well a few days ago it starts with the "low memory" messages, so being that it is a Windows OS I give it the ol' reboot. Well the thing never came back, it just sits at the green windows mobile screen.

So I came back to ppcgeeks to find another image to flash it and start over. Someone pointed me to a kitchen rom maker, but this poor little n00b was too inept to figure it out. So I found another one that was already built.

I ran the thing from both a vista machine and an xp machine and it says it can't connect to my phone, my guess is because the thing isn't booting but again, that's just my guess. I followed the directions and everything...

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong or a simple way to get my phone working again? I can only imagine how many voicemails I have sitting there unchecked.

Well lets answer the voicemail issue first since you said you have alot of unanswered vms. Just dial your phone from any other phone. When your vm msg starts hit the # sign and then enter your vm password. You will be able to review those msgs.

Now onto the ROM questions. I would suggest you get Helmi's kitchen and build your own WM6 ROM rather than using a pre-built ROM. Some of the pre-built ROMs are not current, so you have to be careful about not having supported stuff.

Easy way to build your own ROM is to start with Ga Medic's Noob guide to using Helmi's kitchen. This will take you by the hand and lead you down the build process. It is really very simple. Read up on the threads that mean the most to you. Dont be afraid to ask questions. We are all here to help you!

If you have specific questions please do not hesitate to PM me. I am very familiar with the VZW build since I am a VZW customer.

Steve

I was in your position kinda the other day, but ga's guide is amazing...go to the upgrade portion of the apache forum...I also have vista and got the same message, try right clicking on the flashing program (forget what it is called) and then click "run as administrator" and that seemed to work for me

You'll find the n00b guide, as well as the kitchen threads in the apache\upgrades forum. Here's the link to the guide:
