have you tried LogMeIn? I've used that to connect to my home PC from my 6700. I am able to see the screen, use the stylus as a mouse etc. It requires some setup on the PC, but it just uses the browser on the PPC.

It sounds like from what you said that it merely works off of a web browser? Is this correct? Does the free version include any spamware ect? It also sounds like from what you are saying that you can view the host machines screen on the remote machine. But(and this is a big part) can I see the host (desktop ect) machines screen while inputting keystrokes and joystick commands from the remote (PPC ie xv6700)machine? |

It doesn't require setup on the PPC and there a lots of people reporting success with it. If I were you I'd just install and see if it suits your needs. Well that's what i did. I liked it, but then i realized i wasn't really using it since i just used ORB instead (just does media not full desktop screen) There are lots of cool things you can do with the free LogMeIn though. If you are still unsure about it try searching around to see what other people say about it. I haven't specifically seen it on this forum, but i haven't searched for it either. There is also built in termanal sessions for remote desktop in the PPC, buit i never tried that one at all. I'm guessing it was lacking and that is why people are happy to use LogMeIn or other programs rather than the built in one.

hmm, have you verified that the vnc server on the machine is using vnc3 settings and not vnc4 settings? i no longer use vnc because of it's insecurity. I only use RDP and preferably NX nor for all my linux needs, but that not for PPC... I could tell you to check all the usual stuff, such as making sure ports 5800 and 5900 are open or forwarded for that machine if there is any sort of firewall/NAT in place.. or perhaps 5801/5901 if you're going for multiple sessions, but RealVNC tuts or similar would do a better job i think. I didn't even know there was a VNC client for ppc till right now... oh well... i get by with ftp via Total Commander if i need to xfer files...
