Angry Adding new ringtones or rings to phone ??

How do you add new ring tones to the 6700 ? The format used is "wma" and not wave.
I amplified and converted a couple of ringtones to "wma" format and copied them to the windows directory in the phone, but the phone won't recognize or use them. I'm trying to get my phone to ring a little louder.

Any help would be appreciated...

Thumbs up

Try this website for Ringtones! I have found everything I want and it makes them easy to make as well. You will have to sign up but it is free and takes a lot of the work out of it.

Red face

I tried the "myxertones" site and the phone said that the ringtone I downloaded was corrupted and wouldn't work.
What type phone did you select because my XV-6700 was not available as one of the choices.
I also tried the \\windows\rings directory and that didn't work either....

Any help would be appreciated....

Thanks...

I have entered Microsoft as the manufacturer and Windows CE as the model. This worked for my phone. You may want to try again as there have been some issues with Verizon delivery that are supposed to have been fixed. I wouldnt give up on this site yet! I think that my ringtones are being downloaded to the "My Documents" folder on my device. They then show up under the Settings/Phone and then select the ringtone you like. You can also use the Pocket outlook to specify specific ringtones for specific contacts.

Making Ring Tones For Your Apache Phone:
A very simplified guide by unGOdlike.
Use at your own risk! I offer no warranties, or guaranties that any part of this guide will work or won't mess up your phone, original audio file, or computer.

1) Download or buy an audio editor. I suggest http://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity for those of us who don't want to fork out lots of cash but still want an easy to us program with lots of features.

2) After installing the audio editor of your choice, make a duplicate file of the file you wish to use as a ring tone. Open the duplicate file with the editor.

3) Listen to your music file and decide what piece of it you'd like to keep as a ring tone. Typically, ring tones are kept under 30 seconds to save space, increase quality, and reduce the chance of the ring tone not being recognized.

4) Delete the parts of the audio file that are not in the piece you decided to use. Export the file as a .wav I suggest changing the attributes to PCM 22.050 kHz, 8 bit, mono 21kb/sec. This will reduce the size of the ringtone to about 650kb but retain excellent sound quality. Alternatively, you can use PCM 11.025 kHz, 8 bit, mono 10kb/sec to reduce the average file size to about 325kb but it will sound like its coming through a tin can.

5) Connect your phone to your computer via the usb cord and open the active sync program.

6) Click the Explore button and navigate to \My Documents\My Ringtones

7) Drag and drop your ring tone into the folder.

You should now be able to Start\Settings\Phone on your Apache phone and select the ringtone.

9) Make a test call to make sure it works!

If you have htc audio manager on your phone with songs you want to use as tones, simply choose menu, Set as ringtone, (suggest you trim it to save on size) then simple "save to ringtone folder" or "set as default"

Great, got it to work by using "My Documents\My Ringtones" and "Wav" files instead of "WMA" files.
Last question, now that I have a list of corrupted ringtones, how do I delete them from the list of available ringtones ?

Thanks...
