problems with xv6700 on wm6

Hello All!

I installed the wm6 on to my xv6700. I have been having a lot of problems with it crashing on me. I am sure this has been discussed. I look around and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. The thing keeps on crashing on me. As in, it will stop working. So, I do a soft reset and it get stuck on the splash screen. When it gets stuck on the splash screen I don't know of any other way to get around it besides doing a hard reboot which eliminates all my memory. I have lost phone number and appointments and I cant get them back unless I am near my computer. Has anybody else had this problem and how are they fixing it.

I feel that its the wm6, and I will need to go back to wm5 in order to have a stable phone that I can use with out feeling like it is going to crash all the time.

If somebody here can give me some Ideas, I would be most appreciative!

Are you guys using a prebuilt ROM or the kitchen. What programs have you installed? Give a few details please.

I personally have not installed any programs on mine. In the past I installed pda.net and opera. But I havn't done that in a while. But I have to do a hard reset probably twice a week. I originally got wm6 from helmc. All the programs I have on there are the ones that came pre-loaded.

I am not even sure what the difference between a ROM and a Kitchen.

Well if you don't know the difference then you are not using the kitchen. The kitchen is where you pick what you want on your PPC, then flash it to the PPC. The kitchen is in a thread in the upgrades section of this forum. Take a peek at it. You will find a lot of programs you may like and your problem may get resolved with a new ROM, the helmi rom is outdated.

Yes, crashing and lockups are known symptoms of the original Helmi test ROM. Helmi did not (and isn't going to) release an updated ROM once the kitchen was released.

I found that sometime my phone would hang on the bootup screen when I had a card in the slot. Take out the card and then soft rest. Hopefully everything should load fine after that. As for the backing up, I would DEFINITLY suggest you get PPCPimBackup and keep a copy on your card. Then if you are out somewhere, you can do a quickbackup of your contacts, calls, etc. right on the spot and save it to your card. Then if you have to hard reset, just run PPCPimBackup and restore all you contacts and etc. right from the card. No pc is necessary. Worked great for me when I used to have problems.(No problems anymore though).

I find that having HTC Performance dynamic overclocking enabled helps a TON. When I first installed WM6 I had to instantly revert to WM5 due to crashing.

With the latest ROM i have installed there arent many issues with crashing as the HTC perfomance helps a lot, but I have noticed that WM6 is just slower in general.

HTC performance won't do a thing for crashing, and WM6 should be more responsive than WM5, equivalently configured. You might look at what is installed on your phone and what apps you are running for solutions to your crashing and slowness.
