What is the diffrent with EVCR and 13K?

I changed the voice code from EVCE to 13K, Would it make the phone call voice more clearly? And would it wasted more battery power? Thanks!

"What carriers like to do is to compress or lower the bitrate of our calls so that they can fit more calls in a limited amount of bandwidth. This means that voice and call quality can drop from the industry standard of 13k to 8k or even 3k at times. The sound that would be there aside from your voice at lower levels, or whispering, is replaced with silence. This gives the user the perception of a clear call. This can also be very annoying, as the evrc codec can superimpose louder noises on the other end or ours over the persons voice. With evrc disabled and the phone set to use only 13k, you will experience higher call quality in most cases and notable improvement in your ability to hear someone when their voice changes from loud to soft or the like. 13k is the codec used by Cingular and the other major cellular providers and most cdma carriers are trying to get by with evrc. It's generally beneficial and I have yet to hear a person complain after changing, every persons phone I have enabled to 13k is astounded at the sudden increase in call quality and makes sure to change it on all their phones henceforth."

I have mine set to 13K, this is what I got from alittle research "google"...lol

it really helps when you use bt headsets... the double digital compression really kills voice quality.
