whats the deal with my backlight?

whats the deal with my backlight sometimes it wont come on so i have to hold the phone at an angle to read it and then find my way to the backlight settings and uncheck and recheck the box for it to turn on

try pressing and hold the power button on top of the phone for a few seconds. hopefully the backlight should come on.
