I got a 6700 -> 6800 upgrade! Here's how...
FYI.
Your mileage may vary. Not responsible for product taste after 60 days.
I got Sprint...and insurance. I just sent in my aging 6700 (minus the $50 deductible) to get a new (refurbished) 6700.
The refurb carries a 60 (or 90) day warranty. I just got mine and tried the headphone jack and it has the same problem as my last one...mono output cuz (I'm assuming) the headphone jack solder points are weak and they are not testing these before sending them back out.
I called up the insurance co. and told them that the replacement was also defective. I was transfered to another rep that told me that the refurb'ed 6700s were on back order. I asked the lady if it was possible to send out a new unit to avoid this issue with the next one (you'll never get a new one on the initial swap out). She indicated that it was possible to get a new unit, but that she would need to upgrade me to a 6800 if I wanted at no charge...Duh!
Sure, I said.
