Navigation Button

I'm brand new to the pocket pc and this website is great. I just got a used apache from my friend and the navigation button is missing the black center piece. I don't really care about that piece but it seems that the navigation button is very sensitive. I.E. I push the down direction and it moves down but then opens the item I have moved to or I press the windows key and the screen alignment comes up thinking that I pressed the windows key and the center select. Is there a way to make the center select function less sensitive or is this a result of the missing black piece? If need be is there a way to disable the center select?

Thanks

Nick
