Problems since radio update (1.10 - 1.43)

I'm having a problem of whenever my phone is using a data connection, and I receive and incoming call, it either goes straight to voicemail, or my phone will ring, but as soon as I press either the Send button, or the soft key to answer, the phone freezes for about twenty seconds. After the phone unfreezes, the data connection ends itself, and the phone says I have a missed call. But if I try to call the person back, or restart the data connection, it tells me to end the current phone call, even though I'm not in a phone call, and it even says I missed the last phone call.

I've been doing alot of mods the past week. By the way, I want to thank Helmi_c, luv2chill, and everyone else for their work on the WM6 kitchen and ROM. Its amazing on the phone, and the information I've learned here has been priceless.

Anyways, with that said, I cooked and flashed my first ROM last thursday, and after I felt comfortable with it, I made a few more and then used personal OEMizer for the final touches on my current ROM. As far as I can tell, the phone ran great with this ROM up until Sunday, when I upgraded the radio ROM from 1.1 to 1.43. I was expecting great things considering I was starting with 1.1, but so far it seemed to be a headache.

Last night I did another hard reset, and the phone hasnt frozen today, but it is sending some calls to voicemail while I'm using data.

I think I may go ahead and cook another more streamlined ROM and leave it alone for a little while and see how it likes that.

Anyways, I think I just wrote a book, so heres the cliffs notes..

-Verizon XV6700 on Alltel network
-Used phone for a month with VZW 2.2 ROM on Alltel with no problems except data error 37.
-Flashed with Helmi_c's WM6 ROM, used NoID utility, Used Alltel Carrier settings, unlocked ExtendedROm, didnt notice any problems for the few days I used this setup
-updated radio from 1.1 to 1.43 using the same NoID utility from the kitchen
Started noticing phone freezing on answering incoming calls, and calls sent to voicemail while using EVDO.

Thats about it, any ideas would be much appreciated.

Are you EVDO or 1x? 1X will do that (it's very normal) while EVDO is supposed to let the call break the data session (does on mine, Sprint)

You can always try backing out the radio. Try 1.41 first, then 1.2.... uh 7?

Yeah, I'm in EV when it does this. I thought I had read about a month ago that Sprint changed the priority for data over voice and now voice calls wouldn't interrupt a data call. I don't remember where I saw that, hell I could just be making it up, I just got my 6700 a month ago and its kind of been an information overload since then. Anyways, I was starting to wonder if that was part of this radio ROM. That just doesn't sound right though, my phone is almost always in a data connection. Luckily though, I use GrandCentral, and when someone calls me it also rings my razr, so I have another option for receiving my calls.

I actually just found another thread with some other people having problems with this radio, so thats making me feel a bit better about downgrading. Couple of other people said 1.41 was the hot ticket so I'll start there.

I was on 1.41 for a while, it is very good. But also not having any issues with 1.43 on sprint. Very long ago sprint had data over voice. In either case you should be fine with 1.41 if it gives you no problems

Uh... what PRL are you using? Maybe its an old PRL with the new radio thats the problem?

I'm using 30008, which as far as I know is current for Alltel. I heard that in the midwest a newer PRL was being pushed for EV data roaming on sprint, but not everywhere has gotten it yet. I might try to update the PRL manually and see what happens also.
