GPS navigation software
I'm looking into getting a portable GPS and stumbled upon this.
Our phone isn't listed, but quite a few similar ones are. Will this work with a WM6 Apache? If so, do I have to purchase an additional antenna or anything?

Actually, a lot of these "pre-loaded" cards have copy protection. I have some Navteq maps for my sailboat that are on a CF card that can't be copied without trashing everything.

TONY..YOUR AN IDIOT.... WHY...WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE THIS...YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT... 1. THE 6700 HAS A MILITARY GRADE GPS CHIP IN IT... AND WHEN YOU ADD HELMIS ROM.. AND THEN GO INTO SETTINGS.. YOU WILL FIND THAT THE GPS ICON APPEARS... YOU CAN ENABLE THIS ICON WITH A REGISTRY HACK IN WM5 AND EVEN WIN CE ... WHAT THIS DOES IS GIVE YOU ACCESS TO THE CONFIGURATION OF PORTS THAT YOUR GPS CHIP HAS AVAILABLE ... WITH IT DISABLED FROM THE CARRIER YOUR GPS CHIP USES ONE PORT TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE CARRERS SYSTEM... WITH THE REGISTRY HACK DONE ..AND THE ICON APPEARING...IT ALLOWS MULTIPLE I/O PORTS TO BE USED ON THE GPS CHIP... SO THAT THE GPS CAN DO MULTIPLE PROGRAM SUPPORTS AT THE SAME TIME... SO YOU WERE A DOPE ON THAT ONE TONY... 2. IF YOU READ THE ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE Garmin Mobileâ„¢ XT .....EINSTEIN...ER..TONY...YOU WILL SEE THAT IT COMES WITH 2 CARDS!!!!! 2 TONY... A MINI SD..AND REGULAR SD.... SO IT WILL FIT THE 6700.... IN FACT..IVE ALREADY SENT OFF A PURCHASE FOR IT... AND WHEN I GET IT.. AND GET IT CONFIGURED TO THE 6700 AND IT S UP AND WORKING... ILL BE SURE TO DROP IN HERE AND GIVE YOU ANOTHER BLACK EYE.. IM SORRY... BUT I JUST DONT SUFFER TECHNOLOGICAL IDIOTS VERY WELL.... AND THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AND IDIOT AND THE MERELY UNINFORMED OR TECHNICALLY UN SAVY... ONE IS PERFECTLY OK TO BE... THE OTHER IMAGINES THEMSELF TO BE SOMETHING THEIR NOT... HOW ABOUT YOU STICK TO LEGGOS AND AA BATTERIES TONY.... LEAVE THE TECHNICAL STUFF TO US THAT CAN ..... I MEAN MAN... IT TOLD YOU RIGHT ON THE PAGE THE GENT WHO ASKED..THAT IT CAME WITH A MINI SD CARD.... AND YOU TOLD HIM IT DIDNT... WHAT A DORK... NOW..FOR ACCESSING THE PORT CONFIGS FOR THE GPS CHIP...THERE IS A FREE PROGRAM THAT DOES THAT...IVE DOWNLOADED IT ONCE BEFORE...SO WHEN I GET THE HARDWARE...IF THEIR SOFTWARE OR FIRMWARE DOESNT SOLVE THE INSTALL TO THE INTERNAL GPS CHIP.. ILL FIGURE OUT THE PORT CONFIG AND POST IT HERE SO THAT ALL CAN USE IT... ITS REALLY A PRETTY SIMPLE OPERATION TO DO WITH THE CONFIG PROGRAM THATS AVAIL... IN FACT..IT WOULD BE AN OUTSTANDING ADDITION TO THE KITCHEN.... BUT IM NOT A KITCHEN PERSON... SO ILL LEAVE THAT TO OTHERS WHO KNOW HOW.... ADIOS FOR NOW...BACK WHEN ITS WORKING... |

whoa, my eyes hurt.
If this is true, which I swear after reading the debates going around months ago it was gen. consensus it wasn't, then why aren't all the 6700 gods using this already? This would eliminate the need for the 200+ dollar "toy" I just bought. |

Do you have something that supports this finding? A manufacture? Any specs? Chip architecture type?
I would love to see some of this. Quote:

TomTom Copilot Live info
TomTom 6 works great on my phone and has caused no problems. The other software I tried is Copilot Live although it works it crashes my phone and reboots are often required due to the product. I would advise staying away from Copilot Live.
The only thing I miss in TomTom is text to speech. It tells you where to turn but not the name of the road you must look at the display for that info. I hope this helped Joe |
