seen this before never figured out what caused it tho I would just do as u did and it would b fine. But it must have been an app since I have not seen this issue since. (device configuration completely redone)

I get the Unidentified USB device message when I connect my travel charger while in sleep mode. But this does not happen everytime. I just cancel it.

I am getting this everyday. I was worse when I had the SEVEN installed. When I get the error I typically lose my data connection even though the icon in the start bar shows that I am still connected.

I just got this error today. The way that I got it was by sliding my phone into the charger/cradle, but not having the male USB inserted all the way into the phone.

Could this be what is happening with you? Could it be that you are not getting the phone completely connected?

Ive gotten that same error a few times myself after a hard day of texting. I needed to reset my phone to get rid of it.

I've seen this attributed to several factors.
1) It has been seen to be application driven. Some apps just break it, i still dont know why, my coworker has an axim and has broken it with three different apps.
2) Poor / Improper insertion of the usb cable / cradle or broken connector, try a new flexible cable, the cradles can break easily.
3) you tired out your ppc and it needs a soft reset. hey it is running a windows operating system.
4)Something fouled up the driver on your workstation try restarting it, and possibly reinstalling active sync. Also, i have had more issues with this with AS 4.5 than the older versions.
