Yup. You read correctly. Like me, I'm sure that many of you have suffered the, "HEY...! Where the F#@K did my Storage Card Go...?!?" bug. Without a protective cover over the card insert port, a number of users have discovered that simply using some of the plastic belt clip designs will set the handy memory cards flying anywhere from 4 to 10 feet away. In fact, some poor, bored VX6700 owner made a YouTube video of him SHOOTING his miniSD cards at unsuspecting co-workers (now, how bored does one need to be to to THAT...?!). Anyway, I'd think that with the top port access open all the time, dirt, dust and rain (?!) could gain access and render our prized and expensive communication/entertainment devices inoperative!
So, I pose to you - my fellow VX6700 users... what have YOU done to protect your memory cards and prevent them from taking an unplanned exit? Do you Crazy Glueâ„¢ a plastic cover over the opening... or, maybe cover it with electrical tape? I know one person who has used silver colored lettering tape to cover the slot. (At first glance, I couldn't even tell she had a port on her device. Maybe that was the desired effect.) Anyhow, I pose this question to the rest of you. Me...? What do I do...? Well, now that I have upgrade from a simple 2Gig SanDisk MiniSD disc to that of a 4Gig Kingston HC MiniSD - I'm one of those who use clear packing tape (it's thicker than the tape from your office desk dispenser and has greater adhesive quality, too), and trim it to fit.
