Mayday! :(

Hi Guys,

I happened to be restoring the filesystem on my 6700 last night after doing some tweaking and the power went out. Now my MSL is no longer valid. Ack! I checked the MSL in nvm_security and it appears to be there although the file seems incomplete. MSL is not valid through qpst or programming menus on the phone. The OS is functioning fine but I cannot authenticate via 1x or evdo with verizon now.

Am I gooned? Any suggestions on how to restore a backup?
Thanks!

Update: From a hexdump, it looks like the MSL is in the incorrect location in the file now and the file is incomplete - the MSL location is all "."'s in ascii. Ugh.

I'm assuming you have sprint, as if you had a carrier like vzw, it would be all 0's. You can call sprint to get your MSL.

Let me make sure I understand the question...
your phone is operational, but you can't connect to it via QPST anymore because of the messed up nvm_security file - is that correct?

Yes and yes, I believe that is the problem. The MSL is all 0's in the file, but is not in the correct hex locations in the file. The area where the MSL *should* be stored contains null values "00".

Any idea how to get QPST to send null values for the spc? lol
