Problem upgrading from VW website. Arrrgg!

I bought the PDA used, from a friend that boxed it up about a year and a half ago. It worked well, until I tried to update the software from the Verizon website. It had bootload version 1.00 when I started, and I tried to download the Verizon update from their website using activesync 4.5. I got a connection error and has been stuck in bootload mode since. I tried the Uni_bootloader.exe to no avail. I also treid the BootloaderFix in the sticky found on this forum. I followed the steps to a 'tee' . I can get communication out of the Mtty applet, and it seems to run as it should, but the memory doesn't match up exactly.

Instead of:

Binary0 Size: 0x100000
FAT0 Size: 0x3D00000
FAT1 Size: 0xA00000
FAT2 Size: 0x2C40000
All Size: 0x7440000
FAT0_ADDR=0x100000,FAT1_ADDR=0x3E00000,FAT2_ADDR=0 x4800000

I get:

DOCInfoTableinitHW+
Binary0 Size: 0x100000
FAT0 Size: 0x4000000
FAT1 Size: 0xA00000
FAT2 Size: 0x2C70000
All Size: 0x7770000
FAT0_ADDR=0x100000,FAT1_ADDR=0x4100000,FAT2_ADDR=0 x4B00000

When I run the upgrade utility it seems to work, until I hit the reset button as the last step. The phone even says upgrade complete on the screen. Then I hit reset and the screen goes half texted and off after a few minutes. It won't turn on using the power button, but the hard reset brings up the white screen. I press the space bar to boot as prompted and it fails again. I can get back into bootload mode manualy, but no further. I can run the bootloaderfix over and over again, but the results don't seem to change. I'm not sure what to do from this point.

Please help
