Stock Embarq ROM

I upgraded to a fabulous Helmi WM6 Kitchen ROM without backing up my original Embarq ROM. (BTW, selecting Sprint as carrier for Embarq works fine with NoID selected) As it seem to be impossible to download the original from either Embarq or HTC, it would be great if someone with a stock ROM could extract it that would be great.

I'm not worried about returning mine to stock, but I would like to see what is different with the Sprint and Embarq versions so we can have an Embarq carrier selection in Helmi's WM6 Kitchen.

If someone could tell me how to properly extract (if it's even possible), I *might* be able to. The only differences may be only in the Ext ROM, if that is the case, I could install the unlocker & copy the EXT.

I did some more searching and learned that it was only necessary to obtain the CID from the phone and make a corresponding prj file for the Helmi WM6 kitchen. See this thread:http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...103#post119103

Old_Man_Jenkins: If you could unlock and copy your Embarq extended ROM that would be cool. luv2chill said that if it were uploaded to the FTP he would take a peek at it and see what might differ from Sprint.

Jeff, when you flashed to wm6, did you overwrite your EXT ROM? If not, you should still have the original Embarq EXT ROM.

I do not have an Embarq 6700, I have Sprint.....but I work for Embarq & know some co-workers that have it. I'd have to ask nicely to see if they'd let me copy it.

ok, I tried getting the Ext ROM from a co-workers Embarq 6700 but was unable to. Maybe someone call tell me I did this wrong but, I had extracted the Unlock ExtROM OEM from the latest kitchen. I copied the ExtRom_unlock.exe to my sd card. I had to install Total Commander on his phone 1st, then ran the unlocker, I got the success msg, but I still could not see the Extended ROM folder. I tried several times & even soft resetted....nogo.

I'm guessing I may need more than just the ExtRom_unlock.exe file.

He's still running the stock WM5 ROM.

Yeah you need two registry entries to unhide it.

Easist thing to do would be to copy this cab to your SD card, install it on their PPC, soft reset, copy the cabs off (you don't even need to unlock the extrom to do that).

Then uninstall the cab and it should rehide the extrom on next soft reset.

Jeff, I finially caught up w/ the guy again, here is everything from the Embarq Ext ROM......grab it b4 someone deletes it, lol

Thanks man! I'll poke around in it and see what is there. Perhaps luv2chill will be able to give more of an expert opinion on what differs from the Sprint Ext Rom.
