I had that same "didnt add my insurance" problem from sprint. got my phone in aug. and when i just happened to look at a bill in oct. i noticed it wasnt on there...after about three calls and having to " get hood" with a rep i finally got it added on as it should have been anyway.....sorry to hear of your misfortune, but i would make the friend pay at least half!!

the way it works when u dont have insurance is that sprint can look at the phone for a $35 dollar fee...... given ur phone is "liquid damaged" there is nothing sprint can do for u....i work for sprint as a manger i should know....the only thing u can do is probably go to the store and not even mention the whole coffee thing and see if they will let u pay the $35-$55 and hope that the technician doesnt see the damage because that would be an automatic denial as "liquid damage" voids warranty......also the fee is not refundable so think about it......how bad is damaged? is there corrosion?.....try to clean it up as best as u can before u go.....if not its full price.....good luck!!!!!!!!!.....................
also dont even try replacing it with ur own parts if there is corrosion there is no point because the phone is $@#!ed!!!!!!!!! |

if you friend has homeowners or tenants or comprehensive personal liability (CPL) insurance and will admit that they spilled the coffee on your 6700, then they can put a claim in under the third party liability section of their insurance policy. This will pay the cost to replace the phone. There is no deductible applicable to the CPL section of the policy (a deductible applies only in the first party section for loss to his own property.) There is no exclusion as to cell phones or small portable electronic devices.

ok so .. so the phone works now there is only two things wrong with it. the ear speaker sounds really low and the front buttons do not work. i managed to clean it before the coffee soaked in to where the battery is so the sticker that turns red with liquid did not change color, so they wouldnt be able to tell that it got wet. i still want to get a replacement so if any of you are selling on let me know. but im kindo broke so it has to be cheap.

I was under the impression you could add the insurance anytime you wanted...but that you couldn't add it and immediately make a claim...
Like you had to be able to use the phone for a month after adding the insurance...

the thing is that most technicians will open the phone completely and look for corrosion....unless theyre being lazy and u get lucky.....just try it it wont hurt...maybe if u talk to the tech and slip a few dollars he'll look the other way and just go ahead and order u the phone
