How to listen to music with a regular bluetooth headset.

2 Attachment(s)
So you have got a bluetooth headset thats not A2DP compliant and you want to listen to music via your headset. If you have the new rom you can simply activate the lock function and hit the button on your bluetooth headset which opens the audio gateway, open windows media and listen to files via ur headset. Or if you dont have the new rom or you simply do wanna go through those few steps, follow these instructions. First if you dont have the newest version of microsofts .net framework u can download that from HERE (note: this has to be installed for the BTToggle program to work), unzip and install the .cab onto your phone (in main memory), then you can the download the program attached to use to open and close the audio gateway. Simply extract the .cab and install. Once installed on your device simply run the toggle program and its opens the gateway to listen to music, toggle the program again and its back to only being used for calls.

Thanks man this works perfectly except for one part. I tried just locking my phone on the new ROM, but the Voice Dial still wanted to take over and was not working properly. The toggle seems to work great, I just haven't dealt with any calls yet.

Nice add!

if you lock it and hit the button on the headset it will open the gateway. You should hear the beep then nothing but a slight hissing in the background, unlock it and listen to music on ur bluetooth headset.

if you follow the directions, it will work perfectly. Thanks by the way! also if you charge your 6700 with the cradle while listening to the music, it will kinda skip.

Wideawake 06-03-2006 10:22 AM

thx for telling us, I have never tried playing it while it was cradled. actually I don't cradle mine much, but i'll have a look into that.
thx,
mike :)

Ok, I had the same problem. When I hit the headset, the sound comes through but the voice dial takes right over. How can I lock it? Thanks.

Wideawake 06-06-2006 03:55 PM

on the today screen (with the new rom) hit the device lock option, then hit the button on the headset to activate the gateway, unlock it and now u should be able to listen to music via the headset.

Thanks for the quick response. I know I can count on you, always. :wav:

Wideawake 06-06-2006 04:01 PM

not a probelm ;)

Okay, I go this feature to work just using the lock button. Is the toggle used to jump between music and calls? If I am using the H700 for listening to music and a call comes in, will I be able to switch between the two? Or what process will I have to do to ensure that I can answer the call?

Wideawake 07-13-2006 09:04 AM

nall either way if a call comes in it overrides the music and u can answer the phone.

That's all that matters. I didn't want to miss a call just becuase I was rocking out to Buckcherry or Hinder.

So, Here's the deal, I've got a Bluetake BT450 headset which is A2DP compliant, but it doesn't work with my PPC6700. It didn't work b4 the rom upgrade, and it doesn't work with it. Are u guys using a diff. BT stack. It doesn't seem like there are any other profiles present for audio other than hands free and headset......If you can let me know......do I need a Diff. BT stack (and where can I get it?), if not, what do I need to do to get the audio gateway profile (or any other profiles for that matter) to work? Thanks for the help!

I have the SE HBH-610 and want to know if/how I can hear the ringtone through the earpiece. All I hear is a standard noise. It would be nice to hear the ringtone in case I'm not near the phone when it rings..

Your thoughts, comments, totally all-out love and affection?

Wideawake 07-25-2006 03:14 PM

The only way to do that is toggle to audio gateway open, and when it rings it will play through the headset, but u will hear the hissing when not listenin to music or its ringing. my also affect battery life. ;)

Question; Is a Motorola H700 A2DP compatable?

I'm still confused on exactly what this is or what it does. I've been reading up on it and if it sounts like the BtToggle program I had for my 6700. But can someone please give me the "lamens" version? I'd appreciate it!

Wideawake 09-15-2006 02:27 AM

yes this is the bluetooth toggle program, that u may have used on ur 6700. not the a2dp fix that's in another thread. as far as that headset I'm not sure. google the specs and see if that headset in a2dp compliant :D

PPC6700Man 09-15-2006 11:10 PM

Ok, So what is A2DP? Why the big deal over BTtoggle? Like I said, I searched and got that much, but that's all I understood :(

Wideawake 09-16-2006 10:30 AM

ok this (bttoggle) allows to use a regular headset and listen to music is mono (cant remember I think maybe 8kb) which is low quality and a2dp allows to listen to ur music is stereo which is a lot higher quality and u actually get that sound like ur listenin to ur ipod or cd player with the highs, meds, and lows actually hearing bass and what not. note that this is I'm laymens terms. :D maybe this helps.

playdeep 10-02-2006 01:52 AM

Hmmmm i dont think i have the new rom but my headset(bluetrek x2) has worked with no hacks and extra effort from day one. All i do is press the button on the headset and the audio gate opens/turns on. I guess i am lucky....from what i understand it is the samplling rate that has to get better before BT will sound as good as a wire? as in 8 bit versus the 16 bit we are used to? is this limitation something that bt is likely to overcome ?

Wideawake 10-02-2006 01:55 AM

you can over come and get a2dp on the phone which offers stereo sound via bluetooth headsets.....but the headset itself has to be a2dp compatible.
~mike

playdeep 10-02-2006 02:11 AM

Makes sense but i understand even the best BT stereo(mine is not a stereo headset) quality sound is not killer either. Is it still 8 bit ? I know the a2dp profile makes BT headsets that are stereo sound much better then the mono in both ears you get without it.

Wideawake 10-02-2006 02:18 AM

I'm not 100% sure what the rate is to be honest but with the a2dp profile sound quality is increased but not on regular headsets tho...

sker 11-14-2006 11:47 PM

i have a treo 700wx and i installed the toggle...but when i switch over to the audio gateway and push the button on headset nothing happens and the sound still will come out of my speaker....u mentioned of locking your phone but the wx doesnt have device lock on the today screen...is the toggle not compatible to the 700wx? appreciate your help!

Big D5 11-15-2006 12:08 AM

bluetooth stereo headphones

ok so I have the HT280 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones by Motorola. I paired them up with my Treo 700wx phone BUT I can't heart any music from my phone in the haedphones. Now I called motorola and they said that the 700wx does not have the software needed to support the a2dp profile. I don't believe them. Anyone out here want to help me prove motorola wrong and hook me up with a way to hear my muisc on this headset?

Wideawake 12-13-2006 07:20 PM

not with this program see the project a2dp thread in treo forum.

coleman 12-27-2006 02:18 PM
