New Verizon 3.3 ROM (official) + tethering HelP!

I have been reading this forum for a few months but just joined a few days ago when I needed to download. I saw the official verizon 3.3 rom was out and downloaded and installed it. (yes I am stuck w/ the new bootloader) However I can live with it for now or at least till an out is posted.
The problem I am so desperate to solve is using the phone to connect to the internet while I travel, and will be next week! I have played with a few things and been able to connect at a measly 64k but I just KNOW broadband is possible! I stayed up till 3 am searching these posts and another hour today so if the answer is here somewhere please dont blast me just point me in the right direction and I will be SOOO grateful!
When I click "modem link" it points to "dmrouter\vzacc" in the windows directory but I cannot connect but get a "721 error" which is terminated by server error. The old WModem program appears to start and be running but does not appear on the screen. This is probably way too much info but I guess too much is better than none.

If there is no answer I guess I need to find out how to dump this and go back, but I actually do see improvements although most of the changes made to the registry settlings looked like verizon has been watching you guys!

I have encountered the exact same thing. My temporary work around until I hear a better idea is to use the wmodem.exe from my friends stock 6700. I copied the wmodem to my storage card and run it from there. You can't overwrite the ROM 3.3 file because it is read only.

When I run the old wmodem.exe from the storage card I get the GUI up and it works fine.

I still would like info on the wmodem that comes with the 3.3 ROM.

One question have for you ... did you install the Verizon customizations or not? I did not, so I don't know if that file is replaced in the custimizations.

Yes, I did the entire thing, I thought I could change anything I didn't like as I did before..and didn't think I knew enough to be brave (at least not yet!) Would it be possible for you to upload your wmodem file your using? at this point I'll try bout anything that might be an improvement! Or does anyone else have a previous version they could post?

Here's my solution to tethering with the new rom, drivers and all. I cobbled the drivers together from Windows Update for XP, haven't messed with Vista yet.

Thank you so much!, I installed and it works much better... of course I missed it! I really appreciate the fast help.
I keep reading about internet sharing connection. Anyone know if this is possible with this rom or could it be added?
