I don't have an issue with the soft keyboard hiding when I slid out the keyborad. That works just like it should.

The issues are more of the way the Palm Threaded App works.

If you slid out the keyboard (landscape mode) on my 6700 atleast, it hides the last message sent (so when I am typing a reply, I can't see the last message that was sent to me). I have to pull the slider on the side down so I can see the last message (the one I would be replying to).

Also, with the soft keyboard, when you open it up, it does not shrink the threaded app down to provide room to see both the keyboard and the app message screen (where you are typing in the reply/new message).

As stated before, these are probably the way the program is made (since the palm devices do not have soft keyboard or slide out keybords).

I totally understand what your getting.

"If you slid out the keyboard (landscape mode) on my 6700 atleast, it hides the last message sent (so when I am typing a reply, I can't see the last message that was sent to me). I have to pull the slider on the side down so I can see the last message (the one I would be replying to)."

That bugged the hell out of me when I first started using the app. But as time went on its not such a big deal. All the pro's out weighed the con's when it came down to having to scroll down a little to read the last message received.

If there was a fix I would be all over it thought. :)

There is an easy fix. Just simply read the message before you slide out the keyboard. I mean, instinctively, I would think you'd have to read it before, so you'll know if you even need to respond to it in the first place.

To all those who sent me a PM in the last 2.5 months, they will be replied to by morning. Guess I didnt have email notifications turned on for this forum and just been swamped.

I am having an issue with this app. I have tried using it twice on this phone. Once when I first got it and then right after a hard reset after upgrading to the newest Official Rom.

My problem is that I don't recieve all my texts. I see that I recieved a new text because my text icon says I have a new one. However when I click my sms soft key there is NO new text.. In addition, The new text notification resets itself to zero.

Where are my new texts? some I can see and some don't comed through.

Very frustrating. I love the app, but not sure about the viability of missing text messages.

dp,
Sounds to me like your soft key is still assigned to the old sms app. You need to re-assign it to the threader's executable, which for me is \windows\messaging.exe.
Good luck.

heleyj 01-15-2008 03:59 PM

Is the a size limit on the PalmMsgV001 file. my app reuns great then when the file gets around 4.5M is craps out. Any ideas?

datapusher 01-15-2008 04:15 PM

I don't think so. The softkey goes right to the treaded sms app. The old sms has been replaced with the new threaded app.Last time I uninstalled it everything worked fine. However, it would be great if I was able to use it.

I don't know if there's technically a size limit, but that's huge. I would expect the program to struggle with that big of a database.

I would use the purge function now and then...

Most of us have cooked this into our WM6 ROMs. You say you are using the latest stock rom, which is still WM5. Are you using a cab version of this app from somewhere?

I think I've heard of issues with installing this program when you have text messages present in your standard mail app. I'm not sure it would cause this problem though.

datapusher 01-18-2008 03:20 AM

I'm looking at it right now WM6 Pro. It's gthe latest rom from HTC that I downloaded frfomthere website forf th mogul. I uninstalled the cody threaded ppc app and I receive all the text messages again. just would be nice to use the threaded app. oh yes I got it frm this site in a cab forn. with the option to install with an sms soft key or email soft key. Oh well. now just to clarify... when I remove the threaded app I am able to receive all text messages. when I install the threaded sms app it aerts me that IK received a new text message... Howevber it has no record of it and I never see it.

Is there any free way to view these messages on the desktop?

One thing to note is that if you have text messages in your arcsoft SMS folder it will import them 10 at a time every time you start up the threaded app, (until they are all gone I think) IF you delete all these messages first you shouldn't have any problems.

Joeriginal 01-18-2008 10:12 AM

Anyone one know what templates are in the threaded app section and where to get them.

You make mention of "cody threaded ppc app". Would this be different then the palm threaded sms app we are talking about?

It's codyppc's variation from treocentral.

bugzy 02-03-2008 05:43 AM

I've seen screenshots of the new WM6.1 threaded SMS. It's not much different. This one's essentially equivalent to the old version of the Palm SMS threader. The new threader looks different (flashier graphics), but the menu system looks the same. Not totally sure, but I'd say functionally they're probably the same -- just an updated look.

So I take it that the pit falls of the Palm SMS on WM and touch screen are taken care of?
Pitfalls:
1. The program shrinking in size to allow for softkeyboard use (currently, Palm SMS threader covers up the input screen when using the softkeyboard).
2. When switching to landscape mode to use the hard keyboard, the Palm SMS threader does not fully show the last message (the scroll bar does not pull all the way down). So you don't see the last message/message your replying to.

Just my ?'s about the WM6.1 update.

No idea, since I haven't used the new one. :dontknow:

I don't know if this program is included in all WM6.1 builds or just for Palm devices. It appears to be intended for Palm devices only, so I would say no. The reason the keyboard functionality doesn't work well on our devices is because it was meant for the Palm form factor (no soft keyboard or orientation switching). Really no way around it, as far as I know.

Would love to see someone who's seen it in action chime in...

Didn't realize that the WM6.1 that people are looking at is on a Palm Device.

Makes sense that the pitfalls that I listed would still be an issue.

redz1234 02-05-2008 04:23 PM

I didn't realize that myself. I figured WM 6.1 came out for all devices and this was a new threaded sms app. Its basically the same thing were all used to then from my guesses.

Actually, I might have been wrong on that point. Further reading makes me think this new app will be standard for all WM6.1 builds, so I'm guessing they probably have all the form factors covered.

Okay I got the program.. and Installed..

Now I'm running the newest 6.1 Kitchen for the Apache... Is there anyway to get the HTC Home Messaging button to open up SMS Threader? When I click on the button (one w/ count notifier) it doesn't do anything anymore. Any idea? Thanks

I tried to uninstall the WM6 Palm Threaded SMS but the application remains on my phone and only removed from the Remove Programs list. Any registry hacks, file deletions, etc. I need to make to revert back to the standard WM6 SMS? Running HTC PPC-6800 WM6 via Alltel. Let me know if you need further information. Thanks in advance!
