Change the slot cycle index of the phone to 0....that's what I did.

use ##778#

In the View Info soft button, select Modem Settings.

Slot Cycle Index (SCI) is the first field in the Modem Settings page.

EDIT:And I have found that it does affect the battery A LITTLE...since you're polling the towers more frequently.
