To complete freeze not even loading with 20924.
This was without any Patch folder in my kitchen.

I now have perfect running 20924.
EDIT: 20924 activesync speed is fastest I have ever experienced

Had to delete patch folder from Apache core with "winrar".
I installed my Patch folder in kitchen, not in rar files
then pasted this line :
PatchDir=C:\Program Files\PPCkitchen.org\BuildOS\Patches
in Groups\Apache_WM6.1_20924_96DPI_0409.txt

EDIT: this was my solution, use at your own risk, if you have slowdowns.
This patch fixed the quirkiness of the Rom. Thanks Maxx

does the build really just not like MY device?
It really does seem to be hit or miss. Some people loathe it and some people love it. I have actually seen some mixed performance from slow as a crawl to nice and quick. I had the same issue too where it took forever to register that I had hit the start button, but then a minute after that I was cruising the the file explorer, skyfire, text messages, calendar, weather, and then some all on Manila 2-D with no lag at all (almost like a cold start car ).

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20924 kitchen

ok, now I know there is something very wrong with this build. I decided to do a clean wipe to stock rom and then flash this OS. At first, I thought things were fine, but then the strangeness started showing up again...

here is where it gets a little more interesting, and may provide some insight...

I installed SPB mobile shell (my paid retail copy)... and it started looping to tell me to register. I put in my key... it was fine for a while... then started looping again to say i needed to register.

Something just isnt right. I dont know what it is, but I know that shell32 is involved in the problem.

as this build uses some kitchen files from old builds (such as carriers.rar, something_20748.rar), i guess you'd better do a fresh re-install of ppc-kitchen maker.
some of them may need to be updated.

It's a nice thought, but it cant be true. 20755 uses the same "old" files as 20924 but does not exhibit the same problems. The only difference between the two builds is specific to the unique files they uses (which refer to 20755 and 20924 respectively). Therefore, all old OS references are not the problem. 20755 works great without the same problems.

and...why do you believe this accomplished something?

Regardless, removing the the patches folder in apache core is a complete waste of time and 100% unnecessary. I'll wager your solution accomplished exactly nothing - you can verify this rather easily by seeing which version of the patch files is in an untouched 20924 build. If it's the patch version, as it should be, your fix did nothing. If it isn't, you'll have a lot more issues than a patch dir can address.
