By flashing a custom rom, we get rid of the junk, get a faster and newer (therefore more compatible) OS, and we can stick some apps in the ROM and ext ROM partitions...it's free storage space!

Hey,
Actually, no. I have been running only the latest Custom ROM's from the kitchen, for well over a few years now. I was just curious how come we were still getting new updates to the WM6.1 Kitchen. Set aside from maybe bluetooth, how many things are updated or changed/improved from the 19716 Builds, to this one? I am currently running the 716 build, and really can't see anything that is locking up, or any lag. Maybe I just have gotten used to it, and don't know what I am missing?

What you are missing is a reason to upgrade. You are lucky you are satisfied.
I upgrade because I am learning/creating OEMs.

tried that by uninstalling and reinstalling. would that have fixed it? I didn't do anything more than that though.

Updating with updater has nothing to do with uninstalling & reinstalling.
Run updater, goto Kitchens, then Apache Kitchens, then look for new Apache core rar, check box and update...

Hello I have finished my testing to report that my slowdown was from the modified Apache core.

Although it was a brilliant implementation of Apache core, it did not work with me(mayby because of my vista?)
Although others may not have had issue I have on my Vista of massive slowdowns on fresh build with nothing added (with 20755)...
To complete freeze not even loading with 20924.
This was without any Patch folder in my kitchen.

I now have perfect running 20924.
EDIT: 20924 activesync speed is fastest I have ever experienced

Had to delete patch folder from Apache core with "winrar".
I installed my Patch folder in kitchen, not in rar files
then pasted this line :
PatchDir=C:\Program Files\PPCkitchen.org\BuildOS\Patches
in Groups\Apache_WM6.1_20924_96DPI_0409.txt

EDIT: this was my solution, use at your own risk, if you have slowdowns.

Yes. I do not know if there is not any solution to fix it. It was missed in the previous kitchen.

I don't know if anyone else has tried this, but I got another faily noticeable performance boost in changing the PagePool to 12. No promises, but if you are feeling adventurous.

More memory is avaliable for programs to run in this build (20924, 26M+) than a few previous ones (20255 and before, around 22M). I dont feel any slow down with the new one, enclosed is my selection.txt file.

btw: i could find neither wireless modem nor modem link except from the windows folder. where are they? seems it's an old problem with recent builds.

Previous kitchens did not play an sms notification sound if I was in the sms chat thread (as in, a conversation thread between me and a friend). If the conversation was actively displayed on my screen, no sound would play for new SMS's (unless they were from someone else). I want this behavior back, anyone know how to get it back?

Michael

Does anyone have a solution for this?

i am very surprised we haven't seen more people complaining about the speed of this build. i even did a fresh build with next to nothing selected. the jerkiness of even just scrolling through the list of programs is unreal. even when i click the start button, it takes a couple of seconds before it gives me a start list.

does the build really just not like MY device?
