Thanks, first and foremost.

Sorry to be the first one with a problem but I seem to get this error. Manual Downloads work and I'll try from there.

What were you downloading?

Sounds like you are running an old version of BuildOS. You might try reinstalling it, then running updater.

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20924 kitchen

So I got this thing loaded and I think this is the a repeat of the services issue except now in the form of shell32.exe taking 80% cpu at random. Other general wierdness like SPB mobile shell (my retail registered version) looping and telling me to register. Resets arent working well. I am going to try and switch my selections around. But I think this one is a loser at this point.

That seems to have been the case.
I ran the updater without the Kitchens selected and everything went fine.
Now I'm running it again and it seems to be downloading the new Kitchens.

Ah. But when I try to install the "Archived" Helmi6.1 Kitchen I still get that message. I guess I don't really care about it- but thought you should know.

You might try without the services patch installed, and or also swapping shell32 from helmi. Anyone else seeing this?

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20924 kitchen

I noticed that the older MSVC versions were no longer there.
Are these new versions somehow fixed? I found that the older versions were much easier to adapt and use over BT.
I guess I'll find out... building now.

I was told the new version had broader compatibility than those before. Suprised any of them behave differently over BT.

I wasnt using the services patch. havent since 20755 came out. I might consider pulling 20755's shell32.exe file though.

the problem becomes very apparent after going online with IE or weather download, or anything that uses data. phone becomes useless in short order after that.

Any idea what changed since the last build? Just curious to see how urgently I should upgrade my phone. If nothing major changed, then I may wait.

You might want to wait. It isn't pretty. I am testing a shell32 replacement now. I wish I knew what this build was supposed to do... but it probably falls into the category of "only Microsoft knows."

edufur 11-12-2008 02:20 AM

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20924 kitchen

the shell32 injection made it hang at the Windows Mobile splash screen. I am rolling back to 20755. I will keep my eye posted for the next build... if i haven't bought the Touch Pro by then.

edufur 11-12-2008 03:32 AM

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20924 kitchen

a rollback was just what the doctor ordered. 20755 is solid. avoid the pain on the new one... or be part of the solution.

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20924 kitchen

A problem I've been experiencing since 20755 (minor), is this:

Previous kitchens did not play an sms notification sound if I was in the sms chat thread (as in, a conversation thread between me and a friend). If the conversation was actively displayed on my screen, no sound would play for new SMS's (unless they were from someone else). I want this behavior back, anyone know how to get it back?

that does not appear to be a mirror of most recent build. i dont even know if it is a valid older one. your post is off topic and does not belong in this thread.

The wifi and services patches are applied automatically since 20755. You'll see them being applied if you look at your build log.

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20924 kitchen

Flashed last night and am finishing reinstalling this morning.
I'm amazed at how fast this thing is.
So far it's perfect.
PhoneWeaver is even running fine- it kept freezing when using the new 1.3 release- from the Today Plugin.
I'll keep playing today.

i was amazed for about 5 seconds at how fast it was... until i launched the browser and then moved in and out of various programs. i think the initial fastness is just from fresh start. try launching IE and switch between a few apps.

No idea why, but randomly while switching from portrait to landscape the device locks up, and a reset is necessary. Otherwise superb work, I love it!

i forgot to mention that one too. yes, between that... and lots of lag when using more than one app, it hangs, slows down, locks up. How can you like this better than the previous rev?

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20924 kitchen

i see there was another update since my round of problems, any idea what this addresses? looks like it is just shareware updates but not sure. i dont want to try this build again unless there were bugs addressed.

I'm on 20755 and it occasionally locks up when switching from Portrait to Landscape..

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20924 kitchen

I got the same problem as many; it started up ok, then just got stuck at the splash screen with only PIM Backup, Regedit, pacman and sudoku selected. Funny thing was it didn't get stuck at the second splash screen, just a plain black background. Not LCD turning off, just black (or if you want to get technical dark grey).

Old shareware/ppckitchen_oem.rars were in updater. The correct ones are available now.

I've been using this all day today and not one freeze or lag.
I'll try with PIE and other stuff open tomorrow.

So nothing that would address the issues I am seeing? Are you using this build successfully, gguruusa? Are you able to switch back and forth between apps, connect to the internet, and still continue with no lag?

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20924 kitchen

Day two:
Everything works better so far. BT stays connected and my headset connects no matter the state. Sound is clear and MSVC understands everything!
I haven't purchased a Touch Pro yet, but this helps me wait. I know it doesn't do everything nor does it do what it does as fast as the TP, but I'm OK for right now.

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20924 kitchen

Is anyone getting a kitchen/PPCkitchen_OEM.rar File create error? I've uninstalled and reinstalled BuildOS and it fails everytime. I don't know what else it could be. Any help is appreciated.

Try determining which two oems are conflicting (because that's what that error means)

Why do people try reinstalling stuff all the time? It's pointless.

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20924 kitchen

... So, what does 19716 and the newer builds to this one, fix? I really don't think I have any problems at all, so I can't imagine how the newer builds can be any faster or more stable. Why did we even need to update the Apache ROM, anyways? Maybe I am being naive, or mis-guided, but I just don't see any reasons why I should update, other than getting newer OEM's, and helping test this kitchen build.

DanoH5656 11-14-2008 11:31 PM

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20924 kitchen

Just did attempt #2 on this. Added some more oem's and seems to be up and running fine. Does not seem to be as fast as the 20755 build but I am not getting problems switching between apps. There was some lag going from landscape to portrai and back but nothing serious.

All in all I would recommend 20755 over this. I'd be happy to test out this build some more, if there is some information I can relay to fix the bugs.

I take it you are on a stock ROM, which is WM5? If it works for you, great. Most of us don't like the junkware the carrier forced upon us or the slugishness of WM5. By flashing a custom rom, we get rid of the junk, get a faster and newer (therefore more compatible) OS, and we can stick some apps in the ROM and ext ROM partitions...it's free storage space!

See the attached jpg. This is the error i get every time I choose from the selections. Is there a fix? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

Edit: This happens when i choose any of the selections.

thats simple, just download new apache core rar with updater...

Whats not easy was figuring out the speed problem ith the new rom,...
It is the common rar files.
There may be a missing file, havent checked yet.

I had to open selections file and choose older rar ..

Sory I am not able to give more details now as I am leaving work.
So from my testing it is not the patches folder...

EDIT EDIT EDIT:

EDIT:
Woops I think by changing SYS_20924_Common.rar for\SYS_20755_Common.rar in the
"Groups\Apache_WM6.1_20924_96DPI_0409.txt file I think I just made it load the 20755rom.
I was having slowdowns with the older 20755 rom as well, so it could also be that since the two textfiles are basically pointing at the same things since my change...
so it actually could be the only other thing I did was that I removed the patches folder from the apache core, and inserted my patches folder again, since I had slowdowns nomatter which version I used.
So I guess more testing needed.
But at least its workig fast again.
