How does this build compare to Helmi's 19716 build? Worth the upgrade?

Where can common.rar be downloaded from?

Also fixed correclty now. Yes, changing the k would make it load - I suspect later issues during compilation. At any rate, buildos has been fixed, uploaded, and pushed.

Also anyone know where I can find screenshots of the various dialer options or what the differences are between them?

In the view menu is a link to snapshots of many of the dialers and other packages.

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20755 kitchen

I just ran the updater. I found the new kitchen files and installed them. (supposedly)..

SYS_20755_Common.rar was not installed via the updater.

I see the entry in the selections file(s), but the file does not exist. Maybe it is because I only choose Apache kitchens and this file is part of another kitchen in the updater. But if we need it for this new apache kitchen, we need the updater to install it.
EDIT: Just after I manually downloaded this file, I found the post instructing us to do this. grr

Good news is: I was able to update to the latest PPCkitchen_OEM.rar through the updater. no 'cannot copy' errors. YAY!

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20755 kitchen

Just updated and it seems to be bit more responsive and faster all the time than the 20748 build. I had few issues with that one, despite many saying it has several speed issues. The one issue I still have though is that the kitchen is still adding Internet Connection Sharing even though I don't select it to be added when I go to build the ROM and flash my phone.

mastersm 10-18-2008 07:20 PM

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20755 kitchen

I have just flashed from Helmi's and all seems much faster and so far just as stable. Only thing not working is MS Voice Command I get the following error "Voice Command has encountered a problem. Restart Voice Command and try again" I then try and enable again and no luck. If anyone knows how to fix let me/us know.

Once again great job to the developers, another reason why to keep my Apache.

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20755 kitchen

hrmm, seems faster and more stable than 20748 release. Had a few glitches with MS Voice Command. Might need a different version but the others were removed from the latest udpates. I'll pull them out of my archive and test further.

I'll post updates/findings as I go.

Noticed this too, but didn't worry too much as I could never get the OZ client to work with Yahoo or MSN...

Let me start by saying thanks to all behind PPCKitchen - breathing life into my 6700 for a long time now!

I've been using 20755 for 5 days now and the only issues I have:
- MSVC isn't as accurate
- Latest Opera is slow to load and has issues with certain page displays (or is it me?)
- Comm Manager icon is back on bottom of Today screen
- Had some odd events with txt msging - repeating received and sending messages, hangs at times

Does seem faster or more responsive for general use.

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20755 kitchen

I didn't think it was possible to be any quicker, but this certainly is.
Dialer pads are better.
Syncing is super fast.

I've also noticed that MSVC doesn't seem to understand as well, but it's still usable.
Smartskey still doesn't work.
Diamond KB is funky- when I use the regular DKB or Keypad (not QWERTY) it will only use the "hold" key designated digit. This means that all I can type is numbers and punctuation. All other KBs work fine (PCM, OEM and Diamond QWERTY).
None are deal breakers.

After I cook a rom, after hard reset, I get a message saying "tap here to launch TouchFlo" and when I do it says launching and then goes back to the original message of "tap here...". It never starts and I have no today plugin. Any ideas?

what today plugin did you pick? i got that after trying to use the manilla 2d plugin; use the custom manilla 2d plugin in this thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=37314 and it should work (at least, it did for me)

I tried a couple of different combos and then I just made a bare rom with just the manilla2d plug-in. I would still get that same message. I then found that program over on XDA. I then made a rom using the diamond theme and no today plugin. After the install of that I ran the .cab for manilla2d on my Apache and restarted. It worked fine that way and I am using it right now. Just for some reason when I use the kitchen and chose manilla2d, even by it self with no theme and definitely no other today plugins, I always get the message to tap the screen to start and when I do it does not work.

Follow the link in my sig for custom OEM Requests. In post #2 I just completed and oem for manila2d, I'm curious if it will work on the apache. And if it does, there are 18 different skins for it.

Yes, this is the Manila plug-in. Here is my advice for that though. DONT USE it unless you want your phone to be as slow as piss from an old man with prostate issues. The Manila plug in looks cool when you get it working, but it offers ZERO benefit. You wont be able to use YouTube, since it requires more free RAM than what you will have after installing the 9 items you need for Manila. And for the rest of the stuff that works, they work about 50% of the time and then crash you back to the today screen. If you like the graphics, just get the SPB Mobile shell and then download the Manila skin from xda-developers. Dont bother with the SPB mobile shell that is built into BuildOS, it will come up immediately expired. Download the trial straight from SPB. I actually purchased it because I like it so much.

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20755 kitchen

Verizon XV 6700 with build 20755 and minimal add ons. Phone can access internet through VZ even when i have wifi turned off (or no wifi signal) and it's not connected to my computer's DSL. considering i have a pay as you go data plan, this is not a good thing. I'm using the 10 button comm manager if that's important and I can't figure out how to permanently disable the data connection button the way i can everything else. Any ideas?

Other than the huge data bill I'm trying to talk my way out of the only problem i've had was a non-working camera (button didn't connect to anything and there was no program installed) but I think it was because I didn't select one. time to reflash.

I had a tough time (4 hrs worth) getting Build OS to work but finally did (Vista 64 laptop). Too bad I didn't take any notes on what went wrong. The flash process (my first try at this type of thing other than a brief hack of my old RAZR to improve battery life) went pretty smoothly. Great work, guys. I'll send you some love and $$ when i can. -E

fixed it: got the nodata cab that i saw in the build. :)

welp, I ran this all week. with a very basic build. only the Had a few issues with MSVC and bluetooth in the beginning. but they disappeared after a day or so. ran the stock 6.1 mms app. that was extremely sluggish at times, but worked ok.

Only think I didn't like was battery time. I am hoping that was a lack of my usual task manager. I am trying a more complete rom now. we'll see...

Re: Apache WM6.1 Build 20755 kitchen

This build seems to be fairly stable with the manila 2-d setup (not the one included in the kitchen, rather the 19b version posted elsewhere), but having that kills the soft reset time. I think it took almost 4 minutes just to soft reset it. Maybe this is just something with my particular apache.

No, in fact, most would prefer to downgrade to 1.0 if possible because it is smaller, and the new versions don't seem to have any new benefits...

Be thankful...

ok Ive tried to read everything before posting and I'm getting pretty far but while installing 6.1 I have an issue. Has anyone had problems with the Texting I find that it suggests a ghost word and when you space it enters that word it's really annoying and I've tried turning off word suggestions and changing that around and it still does it.

Is there a quick fix that dosn't require re-building rom anyone know?

edit: Also word completion is not working for me so I am guessing it's a bug with this build?

What bootloader version do you have, what did you select in the REV dropdown, and are you using Vista?

I've found that word completetion doesn't work when have the Diamond keyboards active. Even if I use the HW KB, it doesn't work. But if I switch to any other SIP it works fine.

I had the same problem when I just did the cab install with 2d. Then I added this to the kitchen http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=110 and I'm left with roughly 15mb more free space. Everything is also much faster.

Word completion dosn't work and also it's like smart dial is suggesting words.

Ex: when I type do it will suggest do and put dodo when I space is this a result of smart dial I am wondering?
