Trouble installing WM6 on xv6700 PPC

Hi everyone. I am having trouble installing WM6 in my Verizon xv6700 (bootloader 1.04) and would like to get your help.

I am getting a "ERROR 201: GET DEVICE DATA ERROR" message before the WM6 gets a chance to install.

Here's what I did: (1) pressed the POWER + RECORD + SOFT RESET buttons on my phone. (2) connected the USB cable to my phone, then to my laptop (3) opened the WM6 RAR file using WinRAR (4) clicked on WM6 data file in order to intall it (5) pressed "NEXT" on the intallation screen in order to proceed with the WM6 installation process (6) about a minute or so later, I get the following message: "ERROR 201: GET DEVICE DATA ERROR".

What's going on?

I repeated the process 4 times and have not been successful.

I would really appreaciate any help you might provide.

I'm getting the same error as well.... I just got this as a replacement phone. maybe some kinda way not to update????

What version of Windows Mobile 6 are you using? If you're trying to use the .EXE file from Helmi_c and have bootloader v1.04 or over then it aint gonna work. idedanny said he got a replacment, it probably has v2.05 You will need to use a kitchen and get the correct RUU/Rev. Besides, those .exe's are really buggy due to the fact that it was his first release. If you need help on using a kitchen I have a video on YouTube, my channel link is is my signature.

I am currently using WM5 and I am attemting to intall WM6 using the technique described by helmi. Any ideas?

Update bootloader to 2.02

how do you go about getting bootloader 2.02 i could not find an update using google

I am having trouble locating bootloader 2.02 for my Verizon Wireless XV6700 PPC. I currently have bootloader 1.4 intalled on the phone and that particular version is preventing me from installing WM 6 because apparently v 1.4 is incompatible with Helmi's WM6 Verion. I'de appreciate any help. Thnx everyone.

Version 2.02 won't help. That old WM6 was made for version 1.00 and 1.02 Please do not use that verison of WM6, it is so buggy! as it was his first release, Kitchens are not too hard to use. Here you go download these two files ftp://ppcgeeks.com/Apache/Kitchens/New/ Run the Kitchen then place the PPCGeeks OEM in Computer\C:\BuildOS Then you can use my config file attached. When you launch the program and it pops up with the windows for config file browse and select this one below. After it loads hit the play button and when its done it iwll tell you to put the phone in bootloader an plug in. Just go through the steps also uncheck USB connections in Windows Mobile Device Center. The second link in my signature has two video on flashing watch the one for WM6 if you need help. BTW, I thought I helped you before and got WM6 running on your device?

Huh? No rom was ever made for a specific version of apache bootloader. That one is buggy, though.

FYI, that version of the kitchen has some serious bugs. It should go in the bit bucket.
