Takes soooo long to reboot!

I just reflashed today in hopes of alleviating my LOOOONG bootup time, but no luck so far. When I was booting before the flash, I timed it at around 2 minutes for a standard soft reset. I'm still waiting after about 5 minutes for my new rom to boot, but it is after a hard reset so I'll give it a little time.

But, why might it take over 2 minutes for a soft reset?

edit: I gave up on waiting for the new rom to boot after about 8 minutes and reflashed. I have made about as basic a rom as can be but it refuses to boot. I was using the 19213 rom today, but i am in the process of flashing a 19716 again to see if it'll actually boot. In countless flashes that I've done, this is the first time I've had a problem...
