Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
I too, have been having terrible battery life lately, but one thing that I noticed is that the phone seems to charge really fast. Less than 15 minutes on the charger and its at 90 to 100%. I don't seem to remember the battery ever charging that fast. (I also don't remember having the battery die after only a 25 minute call and 5 minutes of checking email.)

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
You might have a defective battery.

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
I have 1 LiPo 1500 and 2 oem 1350s. They all behave the same.
I just upgraded to radio 1.43 and really don't see any difference yet. |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
here's the story i had nochem 5060 and it was alright battery life, a few weeks later some messed up and i did a hard reset... then I had the bestbattery life ever...then I was upgrading to 5061a and then my battery life was horrible, so I flashed back 5060 but it's just alright... so i'm hope flashin back to 59 then to 60 then hard rest will make it good again
***update... so it worked the way I thought. my key was I flashed to 5059 let it run that config.txt thing then directly flashed 5060. let it run that config.txt thing to and then did a hard reset. I also made sure my battery was around 60% and stuff when I did that. Then I installed all my programs wit the exceptions the mobitv hack and zuma. I charged my battery to full and then took it off the charger. went on the internet and streamed a few youtube video to get the battery around 93-94%. Once I did that I tested it and left it off the charger while I went to sleep and work up this morning and took a look at the battery... and I was at 93% still and that was after goin to bed at about 6am and just not wakin up around 12pm...So I hope this helps anyone |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
Hey Hotboy, I believe you are talking about the Titan Kitchen. This thread is in the Apache upgrades forum. While we value your input, I doubt this will help with our issue much.

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
I'm assuming my origianl OEM battery is shot because when I run a fresh charge and monitor with acbPowerMeter, I only get approx 400 mAh of total power before the low battery warning starts to chime.
What are people with new LiPo slim batteries getting for total mAh? |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
If your battery charges quickly, it is probably bad. My phone's battery behaved like that, and the battery level dropped from 100% to 60% within 30 minutes with no activities. Finally I purchased a battery on amazon.com (Dekcell Battery for Audiovox PPC6700, PPC 6700, XV6700, PN. BTR6700, BTR6700B), sold by SF Planet, for $11 (incl. shipping). The capacity is 1500mAh vs. my original 1350 mAh from UTStarcom. The new battery's level stayed at over 70% after a day (well, I didn't make any call, only about 30min or so internet surfing).

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
according to the reviews for the dekcell is appears to be the same mAh as the OEM battery. Can you please double check because I'm thinking of getting a couple. Thanks

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
1 Attachment(s)
I have the perfect fix....
Tired of my battery draining way too fast, I just went back to 6.0. Face it... the only difference between 6.0 and 6.1 that I know of, is threaded SMS. I cured that by installing the CAB (attached) which provides better SMS threading and messaging than what's included in 6.1. 6.0 is faster, doens't have the battery issue, and much more stable. I don't know why people are wasting time on 6.1 just for the sake of .1 instead of .0. I used to be one of those that needed the latest and greatest... but I'd rather a working phone instead. GErvy |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
6.1 is better with wifi from my experience, and it's also faster and more stable than 6.0 was for me. The threaded sms is somewhat annoying since I can't back up my messages, but battery life hasn't been a problem for me really. it may have changed some, but when the battery life is possibly 2 days, a few hours is a significant percentage of that time compared to the average charge cycle on a normal cell phone.

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
I had a problem with Voice Command activating over bluetooth with 6.0. So far 6.1 works quite well. The battery last a good lng time but then I am using a 2600 mAh. I wonder if its not a specific application that is giving troubles. I would de-select everything from the kitchen and checking the battery life.
|
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
I just bought a 1500 mAh Li-Po battery off eBay for $10 incl shipping and using my 2400 mAh 'monster' as a back-up. Fingers crossed the new battery does it for me.

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
if your using a 6800 no2chem new rom (5065)is great on battery life baby....LIke I can last for 2 and a half days if I use moderate use which includes youtube, gps, and phone!!!!

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
This is my first post on the forum so hello everyone.
I just got back into WM about a week ago when I picked up this ppc6700. I used to be pretty handy with WM and am starting to get it back. Only took me 2 tries to get 6.1 installed, I have almost 2 times the battery life than I did with WM5. The activesync hack is the most important one it will drain the battery pretty damn quick. I also did the advance configuration and the normal power saving stuff and everything is good. Hydro |

Now, the one I bought on amazon.com from SF Planet doesn't really say it's dekcell. It says Cameron Sino Technology, and the model no# is CS-AP6700SL. Maybe that's why. |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
i just completely removed the activesync.exe from the phone as i dont use it and im fine. running 6.1 on the kitchen with phone, wifi, and bt wide open in comm manager. i know thats not a solution for all but it worked for me
|
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
So far I have disabled activesync via quickmenu, I have disabled EVDO via the phone settings (services) switched from hybrid to 1X.
I have also turned of time synchronization. So far well my battery sucked on 5.0, 6.0 and it is still just as bad on 6.1, but I have not tried it out for a full day since disabling EVDO. Also my phone is now turning on its LCD while on the charger, before today it never did that and I have been on 6.1 for weeks now. My sister is the one that complains the most about battery life on 6.1, so I have had her to try everything I have and so far she still acts like it is draining just as bad... but maybe the EVDO will do the trick. I will find out soon. |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
Here is an update! After probably 15 hours off the charger with no use I have only drained 20% which for is GREAT!! That means I have 80% and even after messing with my phone for several minutes and calling my house a few times I am still at 80%!
I think out of everything I have tried disabling EVDO was the best thing I have done. It should not prevent emails from being pushed to my phone (which I am not doing right now but will later) and EVDO is not available in my area anyways only 1X is. Also maybe by using a mortscript others can quickly toggle EVDO on and off. |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
With 6.1 you will notice Icon does not show that EVDO enabled.
Go to your Comm Manager. Look for Data Connection button. make shure it's off (not lit). There you go, battery problem solved. Edit: An example of when you would need to check it, is after you finish closing a web browser, as it stays enabled. |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
Oh Noooo! I am losing 3% battery life every hour!! (technically 3.125%)
Just to post back again my battery life is AWSOME. One day starting at 8am to 12pm kills 50% battery life on an old battery. I listened to music 15 minutes to work, 15 minutes back, called a few numbers and talked probably 15-20 minutes, connected to the internet a few times for another 10 minutes. (I was lighter today than what I normally am but still!!!) This is completely acceptable be to me. Here is the registry info Unknown Zone posted for me and if you have 6.1 cooked you should not need to edit the registry. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...99&postcount=5 IF YOU HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING, BUT THIS TO INCREASE BATTERY LIFE THEN TRY THIS!!! |

After doing that AS trick I still notice it opens randomly. Any ideas why? |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
I bought a Seidio 1500Mah Battery for $49.90 and the battery life is unbelvable! I highly recommend it.

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
I finally solved the battery problem with my 6700 i sold it and got an htc touch!

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
overclocking will drain your battery something horrible. There has been many threads about it and the direct effect on your battery.

Also try disabling EVDO in the Phone settings under services and mode of operation if you want to extend battery life, particularly in nonEVDO areas. |

Disabling ActiveSync is a no-no for me since I need to check my emails regularly (currently every 10 minutes) and EVDO is widely available in Atlanta so I'd rather not disable it since I do enjoy my web surfing! After reading this latest post though, I did notice that the Data Connection icon does stay on and instead of the Antennae icon above the signal bars, the left and right data arrows remain, whether I'm synching emails, connecting to the web or not. Is there a registry tweak to change this? I'd rather not go through the build process again unless absolutely necessary. |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
this is because of the version of dialer you are using. switch to the first version vogue or default to see the icon "turn off" your data light to dim.

Please disregard my post from earlier. Although my Data Connection light is still staying on, that is not draining the battery like I thought. |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
I got my ppc 6700 with 3 batteries - 2 regular ones and an extended one.
1 of the regular batts lasts around 2 hours standby on a full charge, the other one lasts half a day on a full charge, and the extended can almost last a whole day. I'm pretty sure it's the batteries fault |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
Anybody else noticed any weird issues with charging? I have the stock charger, as well as a USB cable to charge from the computer, and sometimes when I plug it into the wall charger, the unit acts as if there is no charger attached. When plugged into the USB port, it will sometimes kick on, sometimes it won't. When I check the battery status, it will report 'Unknown Battery'. I suspect there's some kind of battery driver issue that's causing this problem and possibly similar ones related. I wonder if there's something that's trying to access the battery to determine what kind/capacity of the battery and for some reason, is not talking properly, which is causing some kind of drainage issue. I have the same problem, and my results are unpredictable...sometimes it'lll work for hours on a full charge, sometimes only minutes. I can usually only get at most an hour or an hour and half call out of my PPC6700, or browsing unless I have it tethered.
I also have a car charger that used to work fine, now sometimes I'll plug it in and it won't register or charge. I'm not exactly sure how the power system functions, but I would have imagined it'd be simply hardware and not software at all, but I wonder if something that gets flashed is slightly incompatible and not switching on/off when it's supposed to, causing either no charging, or excess drain. Soft and hard resetting my phone does not resolve this issue. What's even weirder, is that sometimes if I plug it in to a USB port and let it sit for a little while, it tends to correct the issue until I drain the battery. Could there be some USB driver that's affecting it? Occasionally when I plug it in, I will get 'unrecognized device' until I soft reset my phone. Food for Thought. |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
I've had the 'Unknown Battery' issue since day one. It hasn't happened as much since moving to 6.0. On occasion it'll take up to a minute for it to recognize that it's plugged or unplugged, but otherwise works fine.

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
this might be a long shot but today I was messin around with abc power meter and I went to insert an SD card while the meter was on screen - I noticed a jump from 78 to 225. I left the card in for about 2 minutes, then I took it out. It dropped back down to 75, then to 38 mA after about 20 seconds and continued at this usage until again, I popped in the memory card, and mA usage went back up to the 200's... would anyone else be willing to try this out?
|
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
No major spike for me... 87mA without a card, jump to 97mA when card inserted, only to drop back to 88mA a few seconds later... pretty much stayed at 88/89mA...
Screen on, all background programs disable, data connection disconnected... |
Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
Has anyone tried out the new WM6.1 rom? I just flashed my phone with it yesterday and the batter life seems to be much better than with the initial Helmi release. Plus, things like slow typing seem to be gone as well.

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue
I've been having all the same issues as bluedeer. It started a lot less noticable a few roms back. I do beleive it started when I plugged my car charger to a rental truck with an bad outlet. It made intermittent connection. From that day on, my car charger and USB cable never charged as good again. Only recently, I have seen the wall charger issues. I did a soft reset today and it started charging properly. I also noticed that recently, I've been having issues with activesync not seeing my phone even after a pc reboot.
