oh and i have alltel and right bootloader picked in drop downs...

The Alltel carrier OEM has a bad carrier ID in it. This causes both invalid device and checksum errors. An updated WM6.1.rar is available via the updater.

I have got the solution for the expiration: setting your computer time zone to US and location to US. Then you can cook it in China!

Or you can use the BuildOS update available either via the updater or current buildos.msi.

i installed the kitchen. it went fine. I run the updater and it stalls out during download at 11% then times out w/ error message "Error can't copy the Helmi_project....." then it shuts down. I have read this thread and it appears others are having the same fate. I don't normally have issues updating anything. any help is appreciated

i've had that happen. you have to be kinda quick, hit em all at once just like control alt del. on a pc. sometimes it helps to hold down the rec, then the pwr. then with both of them held down, hit the reset button on the bottom. if you can't get it then i don't know what the prob may be, but i'm sure one of the genius level fellas can help.

If we rule out your pc, and it's the same software everyone else has, that only leaves one choice for being the problem...

Find me in the chat room.

You run the updater, then it will be fixed. Try only checking the WM6.1 box. That worked for me. I believe the problem is it's having trouble installing the ppc-BuildOS.exe update. Logging out, loggin back in, and then running updater will likely help with that problem.

Okay, I did that and it went fine. So now I should be able to build the rom again and this time I shouldn't get the checksum message, right?

yeah, it's pretty customizable. i turn off everything but the icons in the start menu. and you can colorize it to match whatever you put up there. works good. you can minimize, close, or terminate the process, yadda yadda, yadda. give it a try. you can always reflash.

I actually don't think I like the start icons, but they can't be turned off so... atleast this phone's going to a ppc noob and I think it's definitely handy
