a new WM6 rom with kitchen.. Do I need to adjust something with
the bootloader partitions? If I could have the concept simplified,
I could easily assimilate what I'm supposed to be doing and get my
head outta my ass.

There's so much information on these boards, but trying to put
your finger of the evolution of the concepts and gather an
understanding is hella difficult. If there is a n00b guide that
starts out something like: "You just got a wild hair up your ass
and decided it's time to start flashing your phone, now what?"
I'm open to that.
I dont think you have to do any pre-reqs at this time. Make sure you know which version of the bootloader is on your phone. If you took the official 3.3 upgrade then I believe you should be running 2.04. If you took the 3.3 upgrade from here that was packaged without the bootloader upgrade then you might be running a different version. The key is when you pick the RUU option in the kitchen.

So now download the WM6 kitchen and OEM and install on your PC. If youre running XP it should be smooth build. If youre running Vista then you need to make sure youre running the latest WDC I believe its called. Check the thread on Vista issues!

Once you have installed the kitchen it will put an icon on your desktop for the BuildOS process. Double click and youre on your way. Make sure if you are running the 1.04/2.04 bootloader that you pick the 04+ RUU option. Standard option works for 2.02 version of the bootloader and I have never had to use the third option.

Follow the bouncing ball and pick the options you want to cook into your own ROM. If you would like to add your own OEMS pickup Tiermann's OEMizer application and install it to the TOOLS directory under BuildOS directory. You can run OEMizer right from the BuildOS dialog box.

Happy cooking!

Steve
