I am surprised more users here are not impacted by it, do most people here not run their device through an Exchange server at work? Are you not concerned about your device getting lost and someone getting access to all of your contacts and email?

Mine weighs too much to get lost or stolen. That and they'd have to survive the headbut.

So far there's no new info on the simple PIN issue that I've heard, sorry.

It's a fact of cell phone life. Cell connections cost you lots of battery life (voice or data).

Hi, gguruusa -

While what you say makes sense in broad terms, I have to disagree. Not all software is created equal. If I have WLM checking the status of my email only once an hour (not even downloading messages, since I typically see only a few messages on this account every day), it should only have accessed my account 5 times, yet those 5 times cost me 20-30% of my battery life. That just doesn't make sense. My phone is acting more like it is not fully in a power-down mode even when it isn't supposed to be checking email. To me, it seems like the WLM software that is counting the minutes 'til the next email check is keeping the phone out of "suspend" mode.

Another simple test proves this out. I currently have WLM effectively disabled (manual updates only). I also have two other email accounts under the built-in WM6 Messaging client that I have configured to check for email once an hour. If what you say is true, I would expect my battery power to drop similarly, and possibly more (since it would be checking 2 accounts instead of one). Instead, there is a much less significant effect on my battery life in this configuration: 90% battery after over 10 hours.

Cheers!

Active Sync question

Active sync keeps popping up in my active programs list. It appears to start all on its own even if the apache is not cradled and I need to close it down several times a day. Anyone else observe this bevhavior? Any ideas? Otherwise this latest rom is really great.

Yes, I have noticed that also

Same here, AS will start itself and I notice it in the "running programs" window.

I have the scheduling set to "manually" on both instances. I am not sure what is causing it to autorun, I am thinking about running the reg logger (in the kitchen) and see if I can figure out what is causing this.

Anyone have a simpler answer??

Anyone know why my phone using the Verizon prj file is now going to extended area mode? this has never happened in previous releases.

ROM Too Full Issue

Gents:

We might have a ROM full issue. There are now two threads where users have flashed a new ROM, and it loads successfully. When they hard reset the 6700 gets stuck on the splash screen and it does not go away. When they re-flash with less options then they have no issues.

Ggurrusa has asked for the selections.txt in one thread and I have asked for the same file in the other thread. Once I have mine I will post it as an edit to this post. In the meantime has anyone seen this type of behavior. I have personally seen the BuildOS process complain that I have picked too much so I never thought it could be a full ROM issue.

Thanks,
Steve

Remove Activesync Icon?

I'm using a rom from the 11/17 Kitchen, and using Activesync W/O "Enable advanced network functionality" checked (Start>Settings>Connections Tab>USB to PC). If I check this box, Activesync seems to really slow down my PPC.

I want to remove the little connection icon in the sys tray that appears when connected to Activesync over USB in this mode (no advanced network functionality). (Also appears when connected to ASync via BT, but that's not a big deal)

Anyone know of a way (reg hack) to do this???

Can't seem to come up with the right search terms to find an answer. . . I've tried for about an hour.

thanks in advance.

Hi All,

Thanks for the help, seems that the "No Data" Internet app was set to disabled which apparently nukes every type of connection, even connections via the attached PC/laptop. The only thing that it allows is ActiveSync... Which is cool, you just need to know that it does that... :) I thought it only impacted the CDMA connections.

Any thoughts of adding WkTask 1.1.7.3?

http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html

There seems to be some good additions/fixes to the newer version.

I'd be willing to help out, I'm a programmer, mid-ranges etc., I'm pretty fast at picking things up, but I've never actually created an OEM or ROM before.

Give me the right tools and a little help and who knows where it will go :)

This does seem to be the problem. I have a refurb Apache with the latest AKU 3.3, 1.43 radio & Bootloader 2.05. As Steve mentioned they load fine with the x.04 bootloader however there does not appear to be any warning that you have reached maximum memory. I've attached the selections txt file for one that failed and one that worked.

Many thanks to Steve for nailing down that it was a space issue.
